Recruitment blasted off and TREL successfully landed 93 new members!🚀 These new onboardees completed several ITAR and safety trainings related to the work they will be doing for the lab. Members of the new class also had an opportunity to tour our amazing facility at Pickle Research Center (PRC). TREL continues to be a premier collegiate rocket lab incubating innovators and rocketeers for the future, and we are excited to share the great work our new onboardees will be doing in the coming weeks! #rockets #recruitment #trainings #newmembers #TREL

So thankful for my term as an adjunct professor at The University of Texas at Austin! As Director of the Texas Rocket Engineering Lab (TREL), I've learned so much technically and about my own leadership style. I've met some amazing students, been empowered to create opportunities for them to learn and network, and helped them to kick start their careers. I'm so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to watching the impact they make on the aerospace industry. As I decide on my next adventure, I'd like to extend special thanks to Dr. Noel Clemens and Dr. Philip Varghese for giving me this opportunity and to Firefly Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Relativity Space, Blue Origin, SpaceX, and many more NewSpace and "Old" Space companies for their continued support of TREL. As Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, The University of Texas at Austin continues toward a sustainable model under a tenure-track professor, I can't help but reflect on how we made TREL a permanent fixture of the department. It's so important to keep "making people who make rockets!" #gofurther

We would like to introduce our new innovative chamber, TXE-2-2, also known as Havoc. This engine is prepared to bring the heat for our launch vehicle, Halcyon. Thanks to Velo3D we’ve been able to apply what we’ve learned from our tests with TXE-2-1 and build a more advanced iteration of Havoc. TXE-2-2 has significantly improved our cooling performance and drastically reduced manufacturing time. We look forward to performing a long-duration test on this hardware in the future. Thank you VELO 3D, for propelling us to new heights and supporting us as we continue to learn! It may be cold outside here in Texas, but our team was red hot after their successful ignition test of the TXE-2 engine🔥 The Hotfire and Propulsion teams met over winter break at the Firefly Aerospace Briggs facility to attempt an ignition test of our TXE-2 engine. The duration of the test was 6 seconds, making this test longer than all previous Hotfire tests TREL has conducted combined, which is a landmark accomplishment for the TXE-2 engine! Topping off this progress is the achievement of a thermal steady-state in the engine's cooling channels. This milestone allowed engineers to gather valuable data to evaluate the current design of TXE-2 and prepare for tests with fully integrated flight hardware. This was a great leap for our propulsion team in finalizing the next iteration of TXE-2 that will fly on Halcyon! The test was a blazing success thanks to the incredible work of our engineers, mentors, and supporters. 🚀 A special thank you to Firefly Aerospace for their generous personnel and facility support—this would not have been possible without them! This was a major step toward launching our Halcyon Rocket, and we look forward to gearing up for our next TXE-2 engine hotfire which will be 10 seconds in duration with a higher OF ratio and chamber pressure. This will be key in pushing our hardware further towards flight performance metrics! 💫
