While US job openings fell in April to the lowest level in over three years across a broader spectrum of industries, the job market for marketing professionals continues to warm up. As of this morning, there are 23,593 marketing roles (client side, non-agency) open in the US, marking a 6.3% increase year over year. 2716 of them are senior marketing roles (for directors and above), a 7% increase from a year ago. The median salary for all marketing jobs stands at $88,400, up 1% from a week ago, and the median pay for senior marketing positions is up 3.6% at $145,007. In May, there were 24 new global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) appointments with an even gender split of 12 women and 12 men. California had the highest number of CMO hires (5), followed by New York (4) and Texas (3). The industries that hired the most CMOs this month were Software Development (7), Restaurants (2), and Spectator Sports (2). The most momentous moves happened at: - Gap where a former Pepsico marketing executive, Fabiola Torres, was named the Global CMO for the Gap brand. She is among the many senior hires made recently at Gap Inc. which is on a journey to regain cultural relevance and profitability. - And Johnson Controls, a leading provider of data center cooling and security solutions and AI-powered robotic building management systems, who named former IBM Chris Bontempo as VP and CMO. #CMOInsights #CMOMoves #CMOLadder

This morning, 2727 senior marketing jobs (directors and above) are available in the US. 47.2% of them offer salary transparency. The median salary for senior marketing jobs is $140,005, down 1.8% from last week, while the median pay for all marketing roles is up by 2.9% at $87,506. There is a notable drop in salaries at the SVP and VP levels, while salaries for marketing managers and specialists have risen.
