Companies that think the sustainability transformation is mainly a compliance issue and little other action is needed should think again. The sustainability shift significantly affects how companies operate, how supply chains are shaped, and what consumers want and expect. Many sustainability-linked markets, like EVs, sustainable food, energy efficiency devices, and critical minerals, will pass the trillion-dollar mark within ten years, and many others are about to take off. Pressure from investors, stakeholders, regulators, and incentives encouraging sustainability investment will likely continue ramping up, creating fresh commercial opportunities and challenges. The report Catching the Wave, which we created together with WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, contains a practical framework synthesizing the insights, successes, and observations of 130 business and sustainability leaders. This framework offers a set of immediate actions to help identify and overcome barriers to change, expose material risks, capture new value, and future-proof the enterprise.
