1wFive other facts about Plant Vogtle. 1. It's the most expensive power plant ever built in the US. 2. At $37 B of Capital Cost, its earned GA Power, on the backs of captive Ratepayers, billions of earnings before even producing one Watt of energy. 3. At less than 8% of GA Power's energy generation capacity it resulted in a 30% rate increase for many Captive Ratepayers. 4.GA Power, the biggest litigant against the Clean Power Plan is now after numerous cost overruns touting the clean energy aspects of this costly white elephant. 5. For the capital cost of Vogtle, 18 times the capacity in gas fired CCs could have been built, in 1/4 the time, retiring the same amount of coal generation, with 9 times the Carbon Reduction of Vogtle. .
