“QUOTED IN PELLA’S STANDARD SIZE” One of the first quality control checks I do prior to start of framing is to compare my window order to the plans onsite. Frequently the architects window schedule may be based off a very particular window size or an alternate window brand that was changed during buyout. This was a relatively inexpensive lesson I learned on a much smaller 2-family renovation project earlier in my career when all the windows arrived slightly larger than the framed openings. A good reminder to “walk, jog, run” as you scale up. Lessons like these are far less painful on small projects. How do you incorporate these learned lessons into training or guidelines for new team members, Marc Savatsky?

Check, check and re-check! Always the best policy. Good for you! dgs

Oh I’ve been there. Sticking to a manufacturers standard sizing can also often save some money on each unit, even if you have to tweak your planned ROs a bit.
