Director, Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response, U.S. Department of Energy
I’m excited to share that The White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced the release of Supply Chain Cybersecurity Principles for energy sector manufacturers and end-users today. The Principles create a shared responsibility for manufacturers and end-users to strengthen the cybersecurity of operational technologies and infrastructure used in U.S. energy systems. This helps us achieve “security by design” and “security by operation” — both are critical to strengthening the energy supply chain. I applaud the leadership of GE Vernova, Schneider Electric, Hitachi Energy, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Siemens Energy for their support (and contribution) to the principles. A big shout-out to Stephanie H. Johnson, Ph.D. who led the effort on behalf of Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER), Idaho National Laboratory’s Jeff Mitchell, Sam Chanoski, @Verg Gipson, and Zach Tudor, CISSP, CISM, CCP, and The White House’s Anne Neuberger and Jaclyn Cahan who helped us champion this effort with the G7. As a next step, we’ll be working with the G7 countries to align our collective efforts around these principles. More to come on that front.
Great to see the collaboration between government and industry partners here - critical to the success of supply chain security - will done
Stephanie H. Johnson, Ph.D. 👏 Congrats! It was great to hear about the supply chain approach at INL a few weeks ago.
Thank you Puesh Kumar for your leadership throughout! Thanks also to Jeff Mitchell and the INL team for your hard work on this important effort.
