The #Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (#TDPSA) takes effect today, July 1, 2024. This law aims to enhance the protection of personal data for Texas residents by affording consumers new rights and placing affirmative obligations on all covered organizations.   In advance of today’s effective date, Texas’s Attorney General (AG) recently unveiled “a major data privacy and security initiative,” which included the creation of a team focused on “aggressive enforcement” of Texas’s #privacy laws, including the TDPSA. Announced previously, Chris Ballod joins the #IncidentResponse (IR) practice area as a Senior Partner. With a legal and professional career spanning over two decades – where he held prominent positions within the #CyberInsurance ecosystem – Chris possesses a deep understanding of the complicated and nuanced #DataPrivacy legal landscape and real-life experience in leading forensic investigations into hundreds of various types of data #privacy incidents. He received his J.D. from Widener University Delaware Law School and is licensed to practice in #Pennsylvania. Based in #Atlanta, Sara Hubaishi brings her previous #BreachCoach experience to the Mullen Coughlin IR team. Having handled data privacy and security incidents of all types and sizes, Sara is well-versed in the myriad data privacy and information security laws and regulations that govern an organizations response to a data privacy and security incident, as well as with the protection of employee, client and business partner #data. She received her J.D. from Washington University School of Law and is licensed to practice in Illinois. Seth Gitman joins the #IR practice group as an Associate based in Devon, PA. Jennifer Dickey, a former #LawClerk with the Firm, joins the #AdvisoryCompliance practice area based in #Chicago. She devotes her practice to assisting organizations with pre-incident and proactive data privacy and #InformationSecurity preparedness solutions.
