What makes a great employee? Since Julian Agostini's excellent blog about the importance of being coachable, I have been thinking about the 'soft' skills that make a great employee. Last summer my son was lucky enough to do work experience at a financial firm. On the first day, the MD told them that to stand out in finance you don't need to be the brighter person in the room, you need to apply these 10 things that require zero talent: 1.Being on time 2. Work ethic 3. Effort 4. Body Language 5. Energy 6. Attitude 7. Passion 8. Being Coachable 9. Doing extra 10.Being prepared The list will vary slightly depending on your role but it is excellent guidance for anyone starting a job. The only one I would add is honesty. I have created a list of the top 5 IMO below. What would your top 5 be Julian Agostini Liz Agostini Gary Corin Julie Driscoll Toby Wand Ted Bloom Damion Angus Jack Newey Max Agostini Max Bull Alison Jackson Peder Berg

Do you have any festivals in your summer plans? Do they help inform you are ways to mix-up B2B events?
OUT NOW! ☀️ In the summer edition of Access All Areas, we explore whether financial uncertainty is impacting the festival sector’s progress toward becoming more environmentally sustainable and we hear how being less ‘green’ can actually cost event operators significantly more. We also hear from Cheltenham Festivals' Andrew Lansley about the progress of the Green Events Code of Practice, while CUR8's Mark Stevenson makes the case for carbon removals and ONE TRIBE's Ric Porteus advocates offsetting. We also investigate Greenland’s Arctic Sounds Festival and how is at the heart of a project designed to inspire young people to take action to mitigate climate change. You may have noticed that we have given Access All Areas something of a spring clean, with a new simpler design aesthetic aimed at making the content easier to absorb. We hope you approve! 👉 view the issue online here: https://lnkd.in/e-it_3FX Will Holdoway Tim Benson Ian Nolan Pauline Bourdon 👩🏻💻Hannah Cox Rob Scully BSc(Hons) AMEI FIEMA Claire O'Neill Ross Patel Nick Morgan Adem Holness FRSA #sustainability #green #festival #live #climatechange #rebrand

Productivity: Events are the Answer A letter to the powers-that-be in government – current and future. Support events and you give UK productivity a rocket-boost. Productivity issues in the UK have been a topic of concern for economists, policymakers, and businesses for several years. Despite various efforts to address them, productivity in the UK lags far behind its international peers. Powering the economy and in turn, productivity, are set to be the most important but less soundbite worthy areas of the General Election debate. Business-to-business (B2B) events play a significant role in the productivity equation of companies. Trade shows, conferences, seminars, and networking gatherings, accelerate productivity in several key ways: See Exhibition News for the full article. Lets make this top of the agenda for the government - share if you agree Julian Agostini Liz Agostini Max Agostini Jack Newey Philippa Christer Soraya Gadelrab Max Bull Paul Colston Iain Stirling Alison Jackson Peter Jones Julie Driscoll Damian Angus Chris Skeith OBE Mike Fletcher Toby Wand Phil Redwood

Car Insurance: Top Tip - save 25% (not an ad) Slightly random post but I had to share. When you take out car insurance the job title you enter significantly affects how much you pay. Until now, you haven't been able to check which JT is better or the various options. Now there if you go onto money saving expert - job picker, you can work out the best option. For example, if you put in Exhibition Organiser it is 25% cheaper than Event Organiser. You can't lie (obviously) but either of the above is an honest answer for most people I am connected with.

Neuro Divergency, wellbeing and Events Events can be overwhelming for attendees and organisers alike. I am looking to run a series of articles aimed at making events more inclusive for both he attendees and the people working on them. If you would like to contribute to any of the topics below, please get in touch: Corporate internal events – how do you ensure that your events engage all your staff? How do the events connect with your wider HR strategies and safeguarding policies? Exhibition and conference organisers – Events are often listed in the top three most stressful jobs surveys. How do we go about making sure we protect the wellbeing of our front-end staff – particularly ops. What unique skills can neuro divergent individuals bring to the teams? Corporate Culture – does your company have an inclusion policy document and practices to encourage all individuals to flourish? Is it fit for purpose? What would you change? Launching on your own – are you a neuro divergent business owner who has set up on their own? What unique skills do you bring to the venture? Are there any particular challenges you have faced? All comments can be treated as confidential. If you would like to ask us to look into any area of diversity, please email me directly and we can have a private chat.
