It has been said before that the nonprofit sector is at a sort of recking or turning point, one where organizations must face the realities of systems that hamper their path to progress. Funding alone is one of the core indicators of a nonprofit's success, and that funding is beholden by the interests of donors. Nonprofits whose mission and aims are rooted in justice may need to ask questions about the future directions their respective organizations choose to take. #Nonprofit #Finance #Justice

While I won't belabor the point for too long, what this new catchphrase misses about DEI is that there is inherent value to perspectives outside of one's own. Doubling down on vague factors influenced by our unseen biases like merit and intelligence misses the point of what we need diversity. That isn't to say merit and intelligence aren't important, rather, those things can't be judged by a few interviews alone. Systems and structures that have long excluded groups have done so despite merit, excellence, and intelligence, and unless those wrongs are undone, these nefarious systems will continue to harm disenfranchised groups. #Hiring #DEI #Justice
