Honoured and excited to be appointed Senior Advisor at UNICEF for Giga. Giga is a partnership between the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Giga's mission is to connect every school in the world to the internet by 2030, improving education for all and preparing young people for a digital future. An estimated half of the world's schools remain offline, which roughly equates to 1.3 billion children. Without access to the Internet, children miss the chance to learn and flourish in an increasingly digital world. Giga is building the infrastructure to enable more schools to be connected to the internet: from a comprehensive open source mapping (https://lnkd.in/gH_V86YT) to funding, strategic partnerships and innovations such as tokenisation of bandwidth to provide better incentives for internet service providers to connect remote locations like schools. International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate women’s achievements and progress made towards increasing women’s equality. But while undeniable progress has been made over the years, today is also a day to pause, reflect and remind ourselves of the work we have ahead of us, to achieve true equality. Read on for some thoughts and data on where we stand, from owning our bodies to closing the gender pay gap while trying to break the glass ceiling and participating in politics and technology.

"Synergies Unleashed: Navigating the Intersection of Blockchain and AI" A great panel today in Davos at CV Labs #web3hub - with two big buzz words in one sentence - AI and Blockchain. One could think that If we added quantum computing, virtual reality and nuclear fusion we could get a full bingo! All jokes aside, 3 key take-aways from our panel:  - We live in a world where we can’t separate one technology from another: it’s about the burger in its entirety, not about its ingredients separately. You can’t just talk about the tomatoes, the lettuce or the beef - in today’s world you can’t look at new technologies separately, you need to think about them together. That needs to be taken into account in how we regulate and think about our future.  - We live in a world where you can create a game-changing company with 4 people, and that means that work and education are being reinvented.  - Last but not least, we all need to take responsibility for what is to come - instead of expecting others (eg. our governments) to take the lead. Dear Wonderful World, This year I won’t be writing my resolutions. Instead I’ll be writing my hopes and dreams for you Wonderful World, and in my own small ways I’ll pledge at contributing to helping you reach them. May we see less conflicts. According to the United Nations, approximately 2 billion people, or a quarter of the world's population, currently live in conflict-affected areas. The world is experiencing the highest number of violent conflicts since the end of the Second World War. May the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza end. May we see stability in the upcoming elections. 2024 will be a voting year - more than 2 billion voters in 50 countries, representing over 40% of the world's population, will go to the polls. Elections will be held in various countries, including the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Rwanda, and of course Europe. May the ~2 billion voters who will go to the polls go in a quest for hope and peace and not out of fear. Fear is a tool for extremism. May we be healthier. As of 2020, it is estimated that between 720 and 811 million people in the world faced hunger, which is approximately 9.2% to 10.4% of the global population (source). In contrast, more than half of the world's population will be overweight or obese by 2035 without significant action (source). May we see continued positive impact in our quest for technological progress. May AI become a reasonable voice and truly get humanity to a world of positive abundance and not to self destruction. May blockchain move away from winters, springs and summers and find its killer use cases.   May clean energy use drastically increase. Currently, it is still less than 10%. May we hear and respect each other. May we have faith in each other. May we stop shouting in the void believing we know it all. We don’t. No one does. It is our collective and uniqueness that makes us stronger, together we can. Have a great 2024, with love and hope.

This week, I had the incredible privilege to participate in the first Summit of Le Grand Continent (https://lnkd.in/e7K9WVz9), a gathering of 130 selected participants from the political, corporate and intellectual fields: heads of governments and EU institutions, top-level business executives, key decision makers, opinion leaders, artists, writers and academics. Over 3 days, in the beautiful Aosta Valley, we debated perspectives, shared knowledge, and confronted ideas over the geopolitical, digital and ecological transitions that Europe faces. One key question was our guide: as our continent faces major shocks, how should we best organize the future? Below is a very short synthesis and some of my key takeaways. It doesn’t do justice to the depth of the debates, conversations and interventions we had, yet it is an attempt at sharing the sense of urgency, duty and hope that came across during those 3 days.
