I don't mean to brag but.... I've already achieved one of my goals of 2024!! 🌟 10,000 followers 🌟 I've ensured that, when growing my network, most of my followers/connections are IT and Telecoms industry specific, which means 2 things for you: 1️⃣ 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬: My network offers organic reach to candidates when I advertise jobs or contact people on LinkedIn. This year has been a very different and complex year for me. What many people don't know is that I've actually spent the whole year feeling like such a failure and like I've let myself, my business, and my clients down. I wasn't sure whether I should say that on here... but it's the truth. Without going through all the ins and outs, it's been an emotional and stressful rollercoaster personally that has resulted in me selling my home and leaving Milton Keynes. On Friday last week, I moved back to the lovely English Riviera to be close to family and friends, and I finally feel a little more settled. This week, I took a trip to Bournemouth and Poole to see some clients, and I realise that I haven’t been a failure after all. The comments I received when I saw them were really warming and somehow, despite all the turmoil, I've still managed to do a good job and they're happy with the candidates and service I've delivered. So I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all my clients, not only for your kindness, but for your loyalty. I feel very privileged to have you as clients and I'm looking forward to continuing to support you in the year ahead. Those who I didn't get to see this week - I'm looking forward to seeing you in the new year! As I reflect on the last year, I realise that I've learned such a lot ~ both in business and personally. When I'm not recruiting, you can find me hanging upside down! 🙃 I've often joked that when I hang upside down, anything that happened that day or week that didn’t make me feel good, can just fall out of my head and onto the floor 😂 But jokes aside, it actually does! When I do trapeze yoga, I completely switch off and dump any negative energy. It relaxes me and re-focuses my mind. I always find myself being more productive the next day. Being suspended in the air like this is also great for strength, balance and flexibility, and it releases built up tension from your body and mind. What do you do to keep your mind and body healthy? #yoga ------------- This is called the "angel pose", which I could not do a couple of weeks ago so I was pretty chuffed when I cracked it last night 👇 I've also learned how to do handstands whilst being suspended in the air, which is incredible for me because I've never been able to do a handstand 😂

Time wasters....⏰⏰⏰ People who don't read job adverts properly! Here are some of the common conversations I have when I speak to candidates about their applications: Candidate: "Where is this job located again...?" Me: "Bournemouth" Candidate: "Oh.. no.. that's too far! I live in Aberdeen!" Me: "Are you looking to relocate?" Candidate: "No" 😏 Me: "What salary are you looking for?" Candidate: "£40K" Me: "This position is paying up to £30K" Candidate: "Oh... that's far too low." (Occasionally followed by a smarmy "Good luck with finding someone on that salary!") 😳 After applying for a field engineer role... Me: "The role will involve travelling to customer sites, the company will give you a van." Candidate: "I don't drive..." 🤔 Candidate: "I'm on a graduate Visa so I can only work 20 hours per week during term time." Me: "This role is a full time position." 😑 Me: "What salary are you looking for?" Candidate: "£350 per day - I'm a contractor" Me: "This position is permanent - would you consider a permanent role?" Candidate: "No, contract only" 🙄 Happy Friday!! Can you add any??

I was given an award for my outstanding work in HR & Recruitment at an awards ceremony 🏆 I would have been about 19 or 20. This was when I knew had a deep PASSION for recruiting. ♥️ Back then, recruitment was slightly different. We didn't have the systems we have now. And we had to advertise at the JOB CENTRE! 😱 My office was FILLED with piles of printed and posted CVs (no GDPR back then!) One thing that has never changed, though, is how methodical I am. Anyone walking into my office would think a bomb 💣 had gone off, but it was incredibly organised. I knew exactly whose CV was where, which pile was which, who was interviewing for what job, where it was taking place, who the interviewer was, what date, and what time. I also kept a neat, colour-coded spreadsheet of every candidate and their outcomes (always loved a spreadsheet!!) I deserved that award. I worked SO hard for it!!! I had such a huge desire to progress and be the very BEST I could be, and when that was recognised, I was even more driven to do better. Looking at that photo now, I realise that nothing has actually changed about me in the last 17 years. I'm still the same methodical, organised, go-getting, ambitious girl I was back then. 🚀 I still want nothing more than to be the BEST and do BETTER! Nothing has changed, except I'm just a bit more experienced and have learned a lot of valuable lessons over the years. There are many reasons why you should not look for a new job in January... 1. Everyone else looks for a job in January so you'll be up against lots of other applicants and competition to get the job you want. 2. If you apply now, interview this month, and get an offer before December, you can hand in your notice and start on 2nd Jan! That really is a new start! 3. If you're able to start before Christmas, even better! You can get your initial induction and training out the way before the new year.
