Have you ever wanted to test how long a #PowerQuery takes to refresh? ⏱ Instead of using a stopwatch, Monkey Tools has an easy-to-use interface to let you time the refresh of individual queries, or the full Refresh All operation as needed. Even more, you can toggle your privacy settings to see the effect privacy has on those same refresh times! In this video, I introduce Monkey Tools' Time Sleuth, how it works and what you can expect. If performance is a concern in your queries, you're going to want this Monkey on your team! Ken - To be honest, if this were the ONLY thing Monkey Tools did, I would still be a completely satisfied subscriber. I do a lot of research into M query efficiency and optimization, and Time Sleuth is an absolutely essential component of that work. I think it's even more valuable than demonstrated in the video, because you can set the repeated trials and it will produce not only a nice boxplot showing the range of results, but also a detailed table that you can easily do further analysis on. Typically, I ingest that results table into Power BI and R, to do more detailed statistical analysis on the factors that do and don't affect speed. Keep an eye out for my post later tonight - Time Sleuth plays as a major role in demonstrating that the way in which you train AI models has a huge impact on the efficiency of the M queries they write... 😉
