Following on last week's Monkey Shorts video, we are going to look at one potential "gotcha" that can happen when converting a #PivotTable into CUBE functions - the array formula. 😱 These show up when you have multiple fields in your dimensions and are confusing to users who are not used to seeing them. In this video, Ken Puls shows how you can identify an array, and how to break it so that you can make your formulas dynamic again: https://lnkd.in/gMiEuUen #Excel #DataAnalytics #BusinessIntelligence

A common #BusinessIntelligence requirement is the need to limit a #PowerBI visual to only show completed months and exclude the current active month. The chart shown here is a good example. As usual in Power BI, there are various ways to solve this problem. The way Matt Allington likes to do it is to create a calculated column in the calendar table (you could use #PowerQuery, too). 📅 Check out his solution here: https://lnkd.in/gQApskDw #DataVisualization #DataAnalytics

As an accountant, Ken Puls regularly builds #FinancialReports. One thing we have to deal with is getting the numbers to display in a friendly format. Because of the way that debits and credits are stored in databases, this can be a little challenging. 😕 In this article, Ken walks through the process of building a simple profit and loss statement in #Excel with #PowerPivot, showing how to make all values show correctly. 🙂 There are some key issues that we’ve got to work through, and we’ll do that using a conditional #DAX measure: https://lnkd.in/dV8UcBsq #FinancialAnalysis #BusinessIntelligence

Did you know that an official #Excel table (Ctrl + T) can be set up to have a single cell? In this video, Ken Puls shows you how this is done, as well how it can be used to read data into and out of #PowerQuery. 🔁 https://lnkd.in/gXJYKG-P
