With less a month to go, I want to share that I will be running the London Marathon 2024 on behalf of MS-UK! The charity is one that is particularly close to me, and I am proud to be supporting a charity for those affected by the daily struggles of MS. Training has been a real slog at times but immensely fulfilling in equal measure, and I can't wait for race day! Please do have a read of my story below and if you wish to donate, your support is so greatly appreciated. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/dKJnbQh7

I've seen many planning committees considering large scale solar applications over the last 12 months. The debates are often similar. However the debate that preceded Enso Energy's consent for a scheme in South Oxfordshire stands out. About an hour or so into deliberations, a vote was proposed to refuse the application. On the narrowest of margins, the vote fell. What followed was a speech from Cllr Tim Bearder, it changed two votes and won the day. It's often said that decisions are taken outside of the room, and that 'politics' determines outcomes. Perhaps. The truth is, it's far more chaotic and unpredictable than that (e.g. both Green Party councillors voted against this scheme). As more large scale renewable energy schemes come forward, we're going to need to find more Cllr Bearders. #renewableenergy #planning #solar

I am delighted to have received a distinction in my Msc in International Public Policy from Queen Mary University of London, with a distinction in my dissertation on the role the radical right played in framing the refugee crisis. After an incredibly tough few months this is an achievement I'm very proud of its great to finish this chapter of my education on a high.
