Generative Artificial Intelligence is at the forefront of the current wave of digital revolution. As engineering hubs of global organizations, Global Capability Centers are well positioned to not only emerge as powerhouses of innovation and talent in the age of GenAI, but to truly become 'Global Transformation Hubs'. Unlocking this will require us to come together as an industry, along with academia, and ask ourselves the right questions: What is our responsibility towards GenAI, and towards a world that is more resilient, inclusive and sustainable? How do we contribute to making India a leading voice in the global development and deployment of GenAI? I penned my thoughts in a recent op-ed on this topic: https://lnkd.in/gHjZ_2CR

GCCs as global transformation hubs is the way to go! Gunjan Samtani. With regards to GenAI, I believe the adoption has to be looked at holistically: 1) Simpler use cases that impact small-teams/individuals but cumulatively carry a good value. These can be quickly and inexpensively adopt using GenAI (Llama3 is making a difference here). So, you start realizing value and get ROI even if you later see the need to adapt to the next wave of GenAI to get greater value. 2) More complex enterprise-wide use cases where we might need to work in tandem with GenAI evolution in order to get all our concerns addressed and find the sweet spot. I believe we all are enjoying the journey and will cherish the results more definitively sooner than later :)

Well stated, Gunjan. Additionally, to lead AI or business transformation, GCCs need a laser sharp focus on buying and building world-class leaders so the India centers lead, own and are accountable for enterprise level decisions and global functions.
