In case you missed this: While personnel shortages negatively impact all young children and their families, there is a disproportionate impact on young children from historically marginalized and underserved communities, including communities of color, those experiencing poverty, and those with disabilities. To address the national crisis of recruiting and retaining teachers serving young children with disabilities, the Early Childhood Technical Assistance (ECTA) Center released a compilation of strategies from across the country for attracting, preparing, and retaining staff who support young children and their families. It helps us to ensure we listen to them and work to promote and support their interests. Connecting the Dots Children's rights are often seen as separate from general human rights, but they are, in fact, an extension of these #universalprinciples, tailored to protect children. Taking a holistic approach to teaching and upholding these rights benefits all stakeholders. Human rights aim to ensure a basic standard of life, protection, and dignity for everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, or socioeconomic status and this is the core of children's rights as well. The focus on children's rights emerges from their heightened #risk of exploitation and their unique needs like #protection from child #labor and access to suitable #education. Embracing children's rights is both a moral imperative and an #economic one that pays off in the long run. Children are the #futureworkforce and #consumers. Protecting their well-being today ensures a more educated and productive adult population tomorrow, reducing societal costs such as healthcare and crime. #children #childrensrights #childprotection #childdevelopment #childcare
