Port Aransas Police Department Chief of Police Scott Burroughs sounded his sirens and closed his patrol unit door for the last time on Friday June 28th. He is retiring after 41 years in law enforcement and 15 years serving as police chief in Port Aransas! Every time I interviewed Chief Burroughs (which was pretty regularly as I’m the Port Aransas neighborhood news reporter) he would joke with me at the end of the interview and say “where’s my Philly cheesesteak, Philly girl?” So on his last day ever in the office, I covered a story about how his retirement will be felt by the Port A community and how he is reflecting on his 15 years of service here. This Philly girl surprised him with his cheesesteak that he’s been asking for😂 While it’s not an authentic one from back home, he loved it anyway. Best of luck in North Texas and congratulations on your retirement!🚔🎊 The E.W. Scripps Company I’m so thankful that neighborhood news gives me the opportunity to connect with people in my beat.
