Congratulations to Elemental Excelerator on the release of their report "Traversing the Climate Technology Scale Gap"! This report highlights the need to close the $150 billion scale gap that is making it difficult for new climate technology to be funded, deployed, and scaled. The Rockefeller Foundation's Pride celebration this year's was an incredible reminder of the power of community and performance to advance equity for all. We heard from local New York City organizations working to advance opportunity for LGBTQ+ individuals, and were treated to a moving performance by drag artist Cookie Diorio. Thank you to our wonderful Pride planning team for another moving and entertaining event!

The latest issue of The Rockefeller Foundation's online magazine #MatterOfImpact is all about Latin America and the innovative and inspiring climate solutions advancing opportunity in the region. The region is responsible for only 10% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, and yet its 660 million people are on the frontlines of climate change impacts, particularly in Indigenous communities and people living in urban areas. From the Andes to the Amazon, our partners and grantees are bringing electricity to remote areas, blending Indigenous and Western medicine to fight climate-sensitive diseases, and much more. Recently, The Rockefeller Foundation's Food team and several of our grantees and partners met with Dr. Meena Seshamani, Director of Medicare at Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to discuss learnings from our Food is Medicine (FIM) work, including how we can continue to increase the adoption of interventions like medically tailored meals and produce prescription programs. With approximately 65 million individuals enrolled in Medicare and 15% of beneficiaries having 6 or more chronic illnesses, FIM interventions as a covered benefit under Medicare could help beneficiaries lead healthier lives. Thank you for an insightful conversation and I look forward to working together in the future! It's no secret that climate change is here. In Latin America and the Caribbean alone, the region has experienced extreme weather events like drought, extreme rainfall, heatwaves and more. This is why The Rockefeller Foundation's inaugural cohort of the Big Bets Climate Fellow are working to address the region's climate challenges, focusing on underserved communities disproportionately impacted from the climate crisis. Get to know each Fellow and the unique solutions they will be working on in the coming months. https://lnkd.in/gh52aRig

The Rockefeller Foundation celebrated its 111th Anniversary by gathering some of the world's leading changemakers for an event on Big Bets for Climate Change. In partnership with CNN, we heard from an incredible line up of speakers who shared their insights on the intersection of climate change, diplomacy, technology, art, and more. Getting to listen to the likes of former Vice President Al Gore, Grammy-Winning musician Nile Rodgers, and youth activists like Sneha Revanur remind me how much we need optimism and collaboration to tackle the world's biggest challenges, including climate change. Thank you to The Rockefeller Foundation and CNN for such an insightful event!

This week, as we celebrated The Rockefeller Foundation's 111th anniversary, Rajiv J. Shah shared some thoughts on what the world and philanthropy needs to do to make the large-scale change needed amid an accelerating climate crisis. The history of The Rockefeller Foundation and philanthropy more broadly make clear it’s possible to change the world for the better for everyone. Today, as we address the most serious threat facing humanity today, it is more crucial than ever for organizations, philanthropies and others in civil society to be bolder and think bigger. Food banks are integral to reducing food loss and providing nutritious food to underserved communities. Last month, I met with Jomar Fleras, Executive Director of Rise Against Hunger Philippines (RAHP), a local food bank, to learn more about the work they do to reduce food waste in Nueva Vizcaya, a province in the Philippines. RAHP is a member of The Global FoodBanking Network and with support from The Rockefeller Foundation they have scaled their innovative solution to reduce food waste and alleviate hunger: work with farmers who have a surplus of produce to distribute this fresh food to communities in need before it spoils. We're proud to support The Global FoodBanking Network's efforts to help food banks all over the world transform food systems to be more nutritious and sustainable for both people and planet.
