As the VP of Professional Development for Delta Sigma Pi - Sigma Upsilon Chapter, I had the privilege of working closely with Phyllis J Campbell to put on a fireside chat.
Our chapter was honored and excited to learn from Phyllis' experience as the former Chairman of JPMorgan Chase's Pacific Northwest Region and a member of numerous boards. Her insights on being a female, person of color, leader in the male-dominated banking industry were truly inspiring. My key takeaways from Phyllis's extensive industry experience were: "Get ready, be ready..." for opportunities and capitalize on them. "It's not about you; it's about the difference you'll make...." in the community around you.
Compliments to Noa Avitan for doing a fantastic job monitoring the event! Thank you, Phyllis! And a warm thank you from our chapter!
Last night, I had the joy of attending the Fritzky Leadership Dinner, honoring Phyllis J Campbell for her service as the Edward V. Fritzky Chair in Leadership at the UW Foster School of Business. I had the pleasure of meeting Phyllis earlier this year through my role as Vice President of Professional Advancement for Delta Sigma Pi.
One of the most memorable parts of the evening was when Phyllis, as part of the program, chose to highlight the students who positively shaped her experience this year. I had the honor of being on the panel alongside Emma Yamaguchi Sullivan, Michael Taylor, and Palak Tyagi, three outstanding MBA students. We discussed our individual journeys to the UW Foster School and how Foster has significantly influenced our future plans.
The themes of the evening: bettering humanity through business & leadership in business.
A special thank you to Corinne Goellnitz and her team for organizing such a beautiful evening! Congratulations, and a huge thank you to Phyllis – you are truly such a role model!
I am thrilled to share that I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Corvinus Undergraduate Business Experience in Budapest, Hungary!
This international case competition brought together 16 teams from around the world to tackle three cases: a 2-week case, a 7-hour case, and a 24-hour case.
I am proud to announce that my teammates Jacqueline Choi, Kai Hutchison, Srisubrahmanyar Ramasamy, and I were runners-up in the two-week case, focusing on Tremau - a growing startup dedicated to improving digital safety globally. Tremau specializes in Trust and Safety solutions, offering cutting-edge content moderation tools to counter illegal content and help tech platforms navigate regulatory risks and compliance challenges.
A special thank you to Leta Beard for being a fantastic advisor throughout our preparation and time in Budapest. Your guidance was invaluable.
I am incredibly grateful for all the amazing people I met and the connections I made during the competition. This experience has been incredibly enriching, providing me with the opportunity to apply my skills, collaborate across cultures, and tackle real-world business challenges!
If anyone is interested in learning more about our solution, the experience, or case competitions in general, feel free to reach out. I am more than happy to share my insights and discuss further.
Thank you to the UW Undergraduate Women in Business Club for such an impactful competition! I had a great experience collaborating with Kai Hutchison, Srisubrahmanyar Ramasamy, and Jacqueline Choi. I am grateful that we have the opportunity to discuss and uphold topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the fast-paced business environment and apply problem-solving skills to real-life solutions. It's an honor to place 3rd with a great team on a great case!
The Undergraduate Women in Business Club at the University of Washington in collaboration with the University of Washington Business Alliance organised the Equitable Futures Case Competition from February 2nd to February 9th, 2024. The case was released on February 2nd, followed by a Case Workshop with Deloitte, and finally ended with preliminary and final round presentations, a networking lunch, DEI Workshop, and awards on February 9th! It was a week filled with learning, collaborating, and seeing the results of the hard work that the 14 participating teams put in.
We want to extend our heartiest congratulations to the top three winning teams and our sincerest thanks to all the sponsors- Deloitte, lululemon, and Alvarez & Marsal- judges, advisors, volunteers, all the teams that signed up, and the organising team that made EFCC a huge success.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the UW American Marketing Association Sports Marketing Conference. The conference was an enriching experience that was filled with learning and networking opportunities.
During the event, I participated in the Perfect Pitch and Sales competitions and was thrilled to place 3rd in both categories. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to apply my marketing knowledge, enhance my sales skills, and refine my presentation abilities. I would like to express my gratitude to speakers Maya Bulger, Evan Doyle, and Matthew Beaird for sharing their experiences in the field and to Kyle Schaal for his informative workshop on sales and customer management.
One of the highlights of the conference was attending and participating in workshops hosted by various Seattle-based sports teams and companies, such as the Seattle Mariners, UW Football, and OneCourt.
Overall, it was a fruitful day, and I would like to extend my thanks to UW AMA for organizing such a well-rounded event!
Thank you, Russell Investments, for hosting such a fantastic visit for the second year in a row! It was great hearing from your team and getting a tour of your facilities. I appreciate the warm hospitality!

Foster's Global Business Center's experiential learning programs(Kirsten Aoyama) and @Caro Zeiher designed to build transformational relationships between students and leaders in the business community locally and internationally. The Russell Investments International Case Competition (RIICC) winners were invited to visit the Russell Investments' corporate office in Seattle and the opportunity to meet their leaders and learn about the company and the industry.
Some key takeaways :
🌟Broaden your skillset, work in different teams, but there is value in longevity/tenure. Integrity is key. (Vernon Barback)
🌟Acknowledge your tenacity grid thus far and continue to learn new skills. Make new connections(Gregory Moye,Erik Strom)
🌟Sometimes, you do not begin with the “end in mind”. Don’t be fearful of trying new things. Give a new industry time and attention to assess an alignment/fit. Offer up/volunteer; great way to try things and be noticed (@EmilySteinbarth)
🌟Connections/networking is important as is company culture. Opportunities come when you show up and engaged in the community.(Mollie Jensen).
** In reality, we do not live in a perfect world and the advice is that we will need to deal with ambiguity. Sometimes, we need to take calculated risks, and execute. Know that you will make mistakes, but own your mistakes and learn from it. A valuable lesson for transitioning from College or pivoting into a new role.
Thank you Russell Investments and Erik Strom for a value-add session, a visit to the trading room and showing us what Humility in Leadership means.

As the VP of Professional Development for the Delta Sigma Pi, Sigma Upsilon chapter, I have the privilege of organizing workshops, inviting speakers, arranging networking events, and company visits for our brothers. During our recruitment event, we hosted a professional event to introduce potential new members to our active brothers.
We were honored to have Wuen O., the founder of Sigma Upsilon, as our guest speaker. Her insights on being a self-advocate in all aspects of one's career, including promotions, networking, and conflict resolution, left a lasting impact on me and how I think about workplace interactions. Thank you, Wuen!
Grateful for the opportunity to visit my alma mater University of Washington today and speak at a professional event hosted by Delta Sigma Pi - Sigma Upsilon Chapter.
10 years ago, I worked alongside Evan Abdalla Marcus CharlesNathan Collins, CFAMichelle Hara Joanne Lin, CPA Jonny LuChristopher SmartLuke TchaoEmmeline Vu and many others to found the UW's chapter of Delta Sigma Pi... Back then we were a "ragtag" bunch of of 37 college students who wanted to be part of something and make a difference.
Today, I got to reconnect with the chapter and learned that active membership is consistently around ~75 brothers and that the acceptance rate is around 15%... The level of prestige that DSP has reached is beyond our wildest dreams back when we first started. I learned also that yet another business fraternity has been founded at UW in the past couple of years.
For me, this validates the need that we strove to meet back when we started DSP 10 years ago. The need for brotherhood, community, a place to serve others... while excelling professionally, of course.
The first two photos are from today, taken with Lily Kasic, Eleri Lyon, Nishant Shah, and Kate Staddon a few folks currently serving on the leadership committee for DSP. So proud of what you all are doing and continue to accomplish! Thank you for the lovely flowers, card, and mug.
Couldn't help but to stroll down memory lane and share a few photos from 2013 when it all began...
Cheers to 10 years, Delta Sigma Pi - Sigma Upsilon Chapter!
Teaming up once again with my talented peers, Srisubrahmanyar Ramasamy and Kai Hutchison, to secure our second victory in the Russell Investment International Case Competition was a true honor. It was an absolute delight to have Jacqueline Choi join us for our win in the undergraduate track, I couldn't have asked for a better team!
The competition provided an outstanding platform for connecting with fellow participants, networking with industry professionals, and collectively addressing real-world challenges.
Reuniting with the Russell staff I had the pleasure of meeting during last year's company visit was a genuine delight. Their warm welcome and the well-organized event made the whole experience even more memorable.
I want to express my gratitude to Russell Investments, the University of Washington, and the University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business for their commitment to providing opportunities and fostering the growth of students. Here's to hoping for another exciting competition next year!
