  • Last month, Undergraduate Women in Business hosted our 17th Annual Paving the Way Fundraiser - a night of honoring female business leaders, and paving the way for those who are just starting their journey. Through this event, we raise money for the UWiB Endowed Scholarship (the first student-created endowment at the UW Foster School of Business) which distributes a $10,400 scholarship annually. We are proud to announce that the event was a resounding success, with over $52,000 raised, 160 attendees, and 14 corporate partners, including Deloitte, PwC, Zevenbergen Capital Investments LLC (ZCI), and more. This year’s generous contributions allow us to continue increasing our scholarship award so that one day we can attain our goal of fully funding a deserving members’ annual tuition. The night hosted two incredible speakers: our Woman of the Year Betti Fujikado (she/her) — co-founder of Success Cohorts and Copacino+Fujikado —who inspired us to realize our power and uplift our communities, and our scholarship award winner Iman Janoo, who empowered us to lead with courage through her story of resilience. These women embody the values of UWiB and serve as a testament to the incredible talent in our community. The Paving the Way Fundraiser truly is a celebration of community – thank you to our corporate partners, faculty from the Foster School of Business, UW Visual Arts Society, Bay Laurel catering, and wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House. We also thank the generous donations of Seattle businesses and bakeries, for making our Silent Auction and Dessert Dash possible. Another shout-out to the wonderful executive team, volunteers, our faculty advisor Leta Beard, the Alumni Advisory Board, and treasured family and friends of UWiB. Our organization would not be what it is today without all of you. We hope everyone had as incredible of a night as we did: celebrating our two amazing award winners, indulging in some delicious desserts, and even taking home an auction item or two. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to the success of our 17th Annual Paving the Way Fundraiser. Here's to another year of empowering women and paving the way for a brighter future! If you were unable to join us at the fundraiser but would still like to support, consider donating directly to UWiB’s endowment fund. https://lnkd.in/gGZDCz5F A final thank you to the rest of our sponsors: Amazon WiFi, Boeing, EY, Google, KPMG US, Moss Adams, Rainier Partners, RSM US LLP, Tolo Events LLC, USI Insurance Services, West Monroe!

Being part of an engaging community gives us a sense of belonging and enables us to share relatedness. This evening, I attended the Undergraduate Women in Business (#UWiB) event celebrating stories of rich and meaningful experiences for our undergraduate students and mentors. Betti Fujikado (she/her) spoke as the Woman of the Year; inspiring with her words: “We all have the power to make a difference- so think about how to use it." Betti also reminded us of the power of making space for others and providing a place of safety and belonging in the community. #OSAYS and #SuccessCohorts. Iman Janoo, a scholarship recipient shared how she had to defy societal norms to chart her trajectory. The talented #UWiB leadership team ensured success, and we can't forget the much-anticipated dessert dash winners! Thank you, Professor Leta Beard and all our corporate sponsors, who continue to support us so we can all be trailblazers. While I took home an auction item from the event, my real win is feeling inspired, with a renewed sense of belonging and pride in working within this UW community. #uw_uwib;#Community #Inspiration #Belonging;#corporatepartners

AKPsi and UW Undergraduate Women in Business recently had the opportunity to visit Tableau’s Data1 office in Seattle. The event, featuring presentations by KJ Kim and Zahnae A., offered a deep dive into how students can leverage Salesforce and Tableau programs for academic and professional advancement. KJ led a hands-on Tableau workshop, during which attendees created their own data visualizations, showcasing the practical applications of these tools. The visit also included a panel featuring Anika Martynowych, Stephanie Norick, Carmen Long, and Britni Borrelli (Freiboth). As leaders in their respective fields, they shared invaluable insights on navigating non-linear career paths and pursuing passions. They also emphasized the importance of embracing new experiences at any career stage and the essence of authentic, fluid leadership. This visit not only provided attendees with practical skills and deep insights into the business and technological landscape but also highlighted the endless possibilities within the intersection of academic learning and professional application.

  • Happy International Women's Day! Today, as we celebrate the achievements and success of women worldwide, we're reminded of the crucial role we play in shaping a more inclusive and equitable future. At the University of Washington’s Undergraduate Women in Business (UWiB), we're committed to empowering the next generation of female business leaders and we invite you to join us in honoring this special day with action. Last year, with the generous support of companies like PwC, Deloitte, Zevenbergen Capital, RSM, and more, we raised over $45,000 for our scholarship endowment fund during our annual Paving the Way Fundraiser. These funds directly impact the lives of deserving UWiB members and have allowed us to distribute a $10,400 scholarship this year. In anticipation of our 17th Annual Paving the Way Fundraiser this spring, we are so excited to announce our Woman of the Year, Betti Fujikado (she/her)! As co-founder of Success Cohorts and Copacino+Fujikado, she has been given this honor for her outstanding entrepreneurship and dedication to DEI throughout her career, embodying the resilience, innovation, and leadership of the women we are celebrating today. As we commemorate International Women's Day, we call upon our community to stand with us in championing the advancement of women in business. Your partnership not only supports talented young women but also fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion within your organization. If you are interested in becoming an event partner, please contact Amber Haiwen at uwibpresident@gmail.com for a detailed list of partnership levels and benefits. If you are interested in attending this event, please contact Chetana Marupeddi at uwibfundraiser@gmail.com for more information. Let’s translate our celebration into tangible support for women's empowerment. Visit this link [https://lnkd.in/gGZDCz5F] to donate directly to the UWiB Endowed Scholarship Fund and make a lasting impact on the lives of aspiring female leaders. Together, let’s pave the way for a brighter future. #InternationalWomensDay #UWiB #PavingTheWay
