 Thoughts & takeouts from #Cannes now that I am back at Lewis Mansions.  I'll start with a great quote from Brian Morrissey great ‘The Rebooting’ newsletter: “𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘴, 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘢𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥.” Yes, Retail Media + Commerce Media were one of the top themes.  As Marco Steinsieck points out in his review of Cannes “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘙𝘔𝘕𝘴, 𝘙𝘔𝘕 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴, 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘺𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘔𝘕 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘴. Marco also points out that ““𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. Aside from, personal highlights included: #1 Two great sessions from Ascendant Network put together by Susan MacDermid and Marti Funk: -> The 'Frenemies' Panel on how RMNs should partner with the big holding company agencies - some very candid views exchanged between the Retail Media and Commerce Media heads of the big agency groups and the audience. We need a lot more of this! -> The RMN Ascendant Council lunch where the top folks from Retail Media around the world met. Some very interesting insights from United Airlines & how they are setting up their advertising network. #2 The Beet TV session with Parbinder Dhariwal, VP CVS Media Exchange (CMX) Marcus Harper from The Trade Desk and Amie Owen from Kinesso Commerce - which set the tone for the week talking about audiences + data. #3 The Kroger Precision Marketing / 84.51˚ team of Cara Pratt & Brian Spencer had a fantastic panel with Diana Haussling of Colgate Dana McGraw from Disney called "Creating the Happiest Place in CTV" - an eye-popping insight into the use of audiences + data as well as team structures on the back of Retail Media. #4 Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Retail Media 3.0 panel with Lauren Wiener Cara Pratt Parbinder Dhariwal Richard Nunn #5 Speaking at Nectar360 Retail Media Summit (big thanks to Alice Anson and Amir Rasekh) & seeing Paul Brooks of Coles 360 showing how Retail Media is done 'down under' #6 IAB Morning breakfast on Instore Measurement hosted by the inimitable Yara Daher & Jeffrey Bustos #7 Speaking in the Palais about Creative, Media + Commerce Combined featuring some great brand case studies. And Cannes is really the best place to make new friends and hang out with old friends such as Lauren Livak Gilbert Jessie Bove Dowd Andrew Lipsman Keith Bryan Keith Browning James Bauer Jon Harding John Georgas Darren Jacobs Shenda Loughnane Most fun? Doing the "Cannes Sessions" Daily Round Up Podcast on That's What I Call Marketing with Conor Byrne!

Fantastic. The changes over the years have been the barometer of change in media. What’s fascinating is the speed of change accelerates. The first year post covid there were a few retail media mentions. A few panels suggesting we all watch Amazon and WalMart… fast forward to now and as you say RMN’s dominate. Oh and I can’t find you in Lewis Mansions. Where are you 🤣🤣
