Meet Steven Shannon, Program Director of the Engaging Fathers and Young Men Program! Prior to joining CCSI, Steven was a PC Analyst for the NYS Unified Court System. Why did you choose to come to work at CCSI? CCSI has a really encouraging culture, with a unique focus on employee morale, work/home life balance, and great leadership. What’s the best part of your job? Being able to help fathers and families as I also navigate being a father myself. It’s transformative not only for those in the program but also for myself. Not to mention a great team to work with! What the best piece of advice you have for young men? Find a true community that speaks to and adds to your whole self. Learning who you are and called to be is one of your most important journeys. The right community will catapult that process for you. What do you like to do in your free time? Aside from being a father and husband, I enjoy music creation, videography, and fitness as well as fishing and cooking.
Congratulations to East House President and CEO Lindsay Gozzi-Theobald (who also serves on CCSI’s Board of Directors) on the ribbon cutting of Canal Commons, a 123-unit affordable housing project. Of these, 70 units will house and support people with chronic homelessness or who are in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. Additionally, this project includes units for people with mobility, hearing, and vision impairments. Canal Commons is a beautiful facility converted from a long-vacant historic warehouse in Rochester, NY's Susan B. Anthony neighborhood. In 2020, the project was listed on the Landmark Society of Western, NY’s “Five to Revive” list.

Steve's leadership in developing programs such as the Engaging Fathers and Young Men Program demonstrates his dedication to making a difference in our community. He actively advocates for our cause, prioritizes the well-being of program participants, fosters collaboration among staff members, and upholds ethical standards in his leadership role. Steve's contributions inspire us all to work towards our organization's goals and create meaningful change." Meet Jentavious (Jay) Sampson! Jay comes to CCSI and Engaging Fathers after serving as an Assistant Manager at Easter Seals NY and a Behavior Support Specialist at Villa of Hope School. Why did you choose to come work at CCSI? I felt this was the best place to sharpen my skills and do what I love to do, which is advocacy. CCSI has a great work environment that promotes opportunities to move up. What’s the best part of your job? Engaging with fathers and hoping to make a difference in their lives by improving their skills to be the best father they can. I also enjoy collaborating with my coworkers on different skills to be successful with our fathers. What’s the best piece of advice you have for young men? Never underestimate yourself! If you believe you can do it, you will achieve it. “Can't” is a mindset. What do you like to do in your free time? I like to go fishing and spending time with my family and two dogs.
