“I had the honor of working for Gerianne for six months at the American Diabetes Association. I can honestly say that I have never worked for someone so team-oriented and genuinely concerned for my well-being as a person and a professional. If I had to stay late or come in early for a meeting or to work on a project, Gerianne was always there. A lot of people say "my door is always open", but with Gerianne I knew it was absolutely true. Every time I stepped into her doorway she looked up, greeted me with a genuine smile, and said "Hey, come on in!". I sought and valued Gerianne's opinions and ideas. Gerianne went out of her way to help me be successful at my job in special events/fundraising, gathering support from the rest of the fundraising team when we needed it. Despite working on different events, Gerianne worked hard to bring the entire fundraising team together as one, scheduling regular "Income Team" meetings for us to brainstorm and help each other succeed. It was not at all uncommon for Gerianne to meld into another member of our team, all the while exuding an air of confidence and support that lends itself well to success in stressful situations. One of my favorite things about working for Gerianne was just how human she was while maintaining her professionalism. I learned quickly that I could be very honest with Gerianne, and that as long as I was working as hard as I could, she would always meet me with positive, reassuring words and fresh ideas. I would absolutely recommend Gerianne, especially as a team leader and coach. The things I learned from Gerianne have stayed with me beyond the American Diabetes Association and I think I will forever be looking back, remembering, and continuing to learn from her leadership.”

RASE will make lasting changes to our systems that for far too long have perpetuated inequities that disproportionately affect people of color across our community. This commission is just one step toward rebuilding Monroe County as an actively anti-racist government that embraces diversity and inclusion.

Adaptive Change as a Result of Confronting the Brutal Facts

I co-authored this whitepaper on a period of extreme change at Villa of Hope. This project highlights my ability to tell a story from reading years of board minutes and financials, combining stories from current and past employees, and reading annual reports from the time period. It was difficult, but we made it into a digestible, informational, and sometimes entertaining whitepaper. This even included an executive self-assessment for change and risk-readiness.
