I love fundraising processes. They’re high stakes. Intense. And they make or break companies. Every investor applies pressure and play games differently throughout the courting and negotiating process. And that’s the fun part. I’m pretty passionate about helping other founders run their best processes. Most founders will only raise a few times in their career, if they’re lucky. Investors do this all day every day. Amongst all the things I’ve learned in running Intercom's Series B/C/D and Equals' Seed/Series A, one of the most powerful things I always do is to create a Data Deck. It’s different from a Pitch Deck. Today I wrote a blog post on the topic, and the high level concepts necessary to include in one. AND... this is a topic that extends beyond just metrics. If you’re a founder who needs help, my DMs are always open. It’s a topic I love talking about and helping folks navigate. ✌️ https://lnkd.in/euHxYbsT

Your pricing page is probably the strongest indicator of what you'll be like to do business with. A transparent, easy-to-understand pricing page that helps a prospect understand what they'll pay today (and tomorrow) builds trust and credibility. A vague and confusing pricing page erodes trust. So I believe. Matt Hodges on WrapText today sharing what we've learned about designing and building pricing pages (through many iterations and mistakes). https://lnkd.in/gWb9f2a5

Building a company is hard. It becomes less “hard” when you realize that every part of it that is difficult is revealing something to learn. Something to learn about the market. Something to learn about yourself. Seeing this has really helped me over the past few years. It’s been the biggest blessing. On a week when most are heading into time off, I wrote a simple piece to share some reflections on what building Equals has meant to me. https://lnkd.in/eukZ7DQW

The more successful something is, the more improvements it needs. Dashboards was our most successful new feature in Equals. And it because of that, it's also been the area we've gotten the most feedback and requests. This week we took a big step forward improving dashboards. We launched over the course of the week: 1) Major design improvements. Dashboards are a heck of a lot nicer to view now. 2) Improvements to our AI summaries, and elements like cells which now include comparisons. 3) Embeds! Embed a dashboard in Notion, Coda, and any other tool that supports embeds. Here's a little walk through of me working with a dashboard to run a startup. It's got an ARR build, a funnel view, product engagement stats, and financials. All in the same place. Fully automated. Built in a spreadsheet. ⚡️

Equals dashboards now EMBED. In Notion, Coda, and anything else that supports native embedding. Super excited to check this one off the list, as it's been a top request since we've launched dashboards. To recap our Dashboards V2 week, we've: 1) Given Dashboards a complete redesign 2) Enhanced the customizability of Dashboards, including new AI features 3) Made them fully embeddable We're not done yet (maybe for this week ~). But bigger improvements coming in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned.

Dashboards V2, Day 2 ✨ Today a few elegant and powerful improvements. 1. Fine-tune dashboards with custom formatting options 2. Add context to cells with absolute/relative comparisons 3. Custom AI prompts allow you to create more pointed summaries All from a dashboard that lives within a spreadsheet. This builds on yesterday's set of design changes. Tomorrow, our biggest update coming. Stay tuned.

Most SaaS companies don’t have great reporting. Founders are flying blind. They’re guessing. And it scares the s*** out of me! This is why we started Equals. I can’t help but think of the potential, the “holy-shit-could-you-imagine-how-much-faster-you-could-grow if you could get a deeper understanding of how your business works?” From now having talked to and sold to so many startups, I'm convinced it's not for lack of a desire to change or because of a lack of investment. It’s simply that most don’t know what great reporting looks like, what it unlocks, or how to achieve it. Today's post on Wrap Text is a story of why *great* reporting matters, and the impact I've seen it have on companies. https://lnkd.in/e8i44fPp
