If you’re starting a new DTC brand then this is for you: Don’t put a single dime into paid ads. Unless you’ve got crazy backing then I can bet you’re not working with a big budget And you don’t want to spend it all trying to get your feet off the ground. Start with: •Influencer Seeding (Reach your targeted audience organically) •Post short-form content on TikTok (there are 50 million daily users - start building in public to find your audience) •Now use your paid affiliates & your audience to start selling on TikTok Shop Yes it takes more effort Yes it’s a longer process But it’ll help you to start breaking even as fast as possible

Valuation advice since ad costs are over the roof and difficult to survive for bootstrap start-ups
Absolutely, PMF (and, ideally, profitability) before paid ads is the way to go - no matter what that agency is telling you ;). Love these three mechanisms to start generating and gauging early traction with audiences in a low-to-no cost way. I assume you'd recommend the same on IG / IG shop if your audience is a little older or you want to diversify & de-risk your efforts Ashvin?
I think this is good strategy if brand is not looking for quick cash inflow. These strategies builds strong pillar, help in even reducing cost per purchase (cpa) from paid ads and increases LTV. BUT QUICK CASH FLOW MATTERS for lot of brand owners !
Going TikTok Shop for DTC is easier said than done. A lot of ways for things to go wrong and they subjectively shutdown shops compared to other platforms.
I like paid ads once you've nailed your persona through testing. It's the "boost", but you gotta do the foundational work.
Paid ads are not a bad idea. The problem starts when lazypreneurs think that throwing money at Facebook or Google will multiply their businesses from the get-go.
What would you recommend if my product is a THC-infused functional drink. You can't promote this in TikTok yet. Create organic content for Reels and Shorts? Twitter?
Ashvin Melwani I can boost your sales efforts without increasing headcount or spend. Let's talk if you have bandwidth available?

2moPaid is the only way to know if you have PMF in under a month. Organic is cheaper but you’ll lose time.
