We're pleased to have been invited to a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) roundtable to discuss the government's forthcoming #ChildPoverty strategy. Action for Children CEO, Paul Carberry, met with Liz Kendall, alongside other leading organisations including Barnardo's and Save the Children UK.

Keir Starmer, over 28,000 people are asking you to be a champion for children. Will you listen? Last week, we went to #DowningStreet to hand our petition in, along with five young ambassadors representing each of the charities. Now the government must listen and give children a seat at the table. #ChildrenAtTheTable

Celebrate World Youth Skills Day with us! 🌟 Meet Angharad (right), one of the amazing young people who has thrived through Action for Children's Skills for Living programme in North Wales. Thanks to her Personal Advisor, Angharad got involved with us and her journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Here's what she shared about her experience: "Action for Children helped me with multiple things in my life – mental health, finances and my confidence. They also supported me in applying to be a Young Person on the Wales Committee which I am still doing and also to become a Young Ambassador, which I did for 7 years." Now, Angharad is an Apprentice Learning and Development Administrator. She says she's gained new skills and her confidence has grown in the role, thanks to her manager Debbie (left). "We get along well which always helps, we are able to lean on each other and she has given me so much confidence to do certain tasks alone. She's always there when I need her, whether that’s for work or personal reasons. I'm lucky to have someone like Debbie as my manager." "The advice I would give to other people thinking about doing an apprenticeship is to just go for it! It’s an amazing opportunity to learn whilst working. It’s the best thing I have done, and I will always recommend it to anyone who asks." Angharad’s story highlights the power of support, mentorship, and the opportunities that apprenticeships offer. We are so thankful to our Patron The Princess of Wales and The Prince of Wales for choosing us as one of the beneficiaries of the recent Royal Charity Polo Cup. The money raised will make a real difference, helping us to support hundreds and thousands of children, young people and families across the UK. We’re proud to highlight the incredible work of Amanda and the team at Haydock Short Breaks in Ealing, West London. They provide overnight stays for young people aged 8 to 18 with physical and learning disabilities, helping them build independence while giving their families a much-needed break. “Parents are always telling us how much their kids love coming to Haydock. One boy who ran straight over to give me a big hug, saying ‘I love you. I missed you,’ and his mum said that he’d gone to school that morning with his suitcase, so looking forward to his stay-over.” - Amanda Haydock, a purpose-built home in Ealing, West London, is a safe haven where the young people can learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy time away from home. Thank you Amanda and the whole team at Haydock for your dedication and for making a difference to so many lives! ❤️ #SupportForFamilies #DisabilitySupport

🎂 It's a big day at Action for Children... 155 years ago today, Dr Thomas Bowman Stephenson met Fred and George. The children were living rough under the arches of Waterloo Station. Instead of walking by, he stopped to listen to their stories, and worked out the most practical way to help. That's when Action for Children was founded. Since 1869, we've believed every child and young person should have a safe and happy childhood. #HappyBirthday #ActionForChildren #1869

“It’s more than a job. For me, it’s a privilege that young people allow you to be part of that journey with them.” We're giving a shout out to Michelle, a Registered Manager at our Rossorry Grove service in Northern Ireland. Why? Because she's recently been awarded an Employee Excellence award at our Stephenson Awards for her dedicated work in our children's services 👏 Rossorry Grove provides young people with supported accommodation who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. When the service's contract was due to end, she fought hard for the young people to continue to access this crucial support. She was instrumental in enabling the young people to conduct their own campaign to save the service which involved them engaging with local media, council members and politicians. Her colleagues said that she really went above and beyond. “For me, there’s a real emotional connection to the service as I was there right from the beginning.” Thank you Michelle and the Rossorry Grove team for everything you do for vulnerable young people in Northern Ireland ❤️ Interested in joining the Action for Children family?
