ROLE DESCRIPTION


Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the VP, Business Development (BD) is directly responsible for increasing revenues through national business development and driving sales activities for targeted Payer Market prospects including Health Plans, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM), Employers and Benefits Consultants, Provider Market prospects including Health Systems, Accountable Care Organizations, Academic Medical Centers and, other Provider Organizations and related channel partners across the healthcare marketplace. The VP, BD primary responsibilities are direct sales and business development, developing and executing a strategic approach to new business development, and developing and maintaining robust business development pipeline opportunities in collaboration wit stakeholders and potential customers in target markets. A solid working knowledge of Payer Total Cost of Care management, Population Health Management and precision medicine is required.


As a key member of the senior leadership team, the VP, BD is also responsible for driving new product opportunities and the expansion of the company's core offerings in the market. The VP, BD is a strong “hunter’ who is adept in managing a deal from start to finish and who cultivates long-term relationship with key C-level executives and decision-makers. In addition, the VP, BD is accountable for navigating a long sales cycle and taking a highly consultative approach to selling and communicating a very complex value proposition to a sophisticated group of Key Opinion Leader’s.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Achievement of annual revenue and net operating income goals

Achievement of strategic business growth goals and objectives

Achievement of the VP, BD team’s collective revenue goals established

Lead sales strategy and business development for company products and services to the Payer Market

Effectively communicate companies value proposition to C-Level prospects and identify new customer segments and sales channels.

Utilize a deep understanding of company products and services to execute an aggressive sales plan, employ a consultative sales approach to determine the prospect’s needs and priorities, and monitor pertinent market activity related to target markets, competitors and the products and services offered

Contribute to broader commercial strategy for new product offering and expansion of customer base and target markets

Function as a deal driver and deal shaper; identify, construct, negotiate and close complex multi-year contracts, hitting and/or surpassing targets with consistency, by leveraging existing rolodex and cultivating new relationships

Develop existing talent within the commercial organization, as well as recruit and train a high-performing sales team

Provide direct support to the CEO in all business matters as may be required including broad business strategy and execution, investor relations, business development and company oversight.

Participate as a member of Senior Leadership Team and contribute to all decision making pertinent to the business


QUALIFICATIONS


Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree minimum


Minimum of 10 years experience in healthcare direct sales/business development required; 5+ years in BD Leadership positions with increasing responsibilities strongly preferred.


Proven track record at delivering significant new revenue growth selling direct into the healthcare market with ancillary products and services that achieve total cost of care savings including value-based contracting and shared-savings financial models is strongly desired.


Proven success at selling multi-year, multi-million dollar products and service solutions in the healthcare market including sales of medical cost management solutions to national health plans, health systems, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM), health systems, Accountable Care Organizations and other healthcare companies at risk for medical costs.


Significant experience selling Medical Cost Management, Total Cost of Care management, Population Health Management, and precision medicine-based solutions is a requirement for this position.


Experience with product marketing and product strategy/product management strongly desired

Strong execution discipline orientation a must; ability to close large, complex agreements with national Payer Market clients successfully is a minimum requirement for this position.


Strong leadership, interpersonal, entrepreneurial, management, presentation, and writing skills required

Salesforce experience, preferred

Track record of above-plan performance

Excellent written & verbal communication skills

Ability to work well in cross-functional teams

Self-motivated & proactive

Ability to travel
