What work will you perform?

The Vice President of Mexico Cross Border Services is responsible for directing activities involving the US/Mexico cross border business. Your expertise in US/Mexico cross border operations will guide your ability to provide support for agents, capacity providers and customers with all aspects of cross border transactions. The VP is responsible for the operational management of the Laredo facility and Landstar’s 11 other cross boarder gateways. Your business acumen and strategic experience will support your ability to manage the P&L, lead staff and support growing the business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all company activities at the Landstar Laredo facility and all gateway facilities along the US/Mexico Border
  • Manage the overall P&L for Landstar Mexico Cross border Services including p reparing departmental budgets and ensuring cost controls are maintained to operate within budget guidelines
  • Review analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives
  • Work with key staff to develop and manage short term goals and long-term goals for the Landstar Mexico Cross border operation
  • Accountable for continuous efforts to improve Landstar’s competitive position and performance
  • Collaborate with V.P. of Mexico Sales to close business deals and grow revenue/profit
  • Participate in company meetings and training sessions as the Mexico Subject Matter Expert (SME) to BCOs and Agents
  • Stay informed and analyze the international Mexico market to make sound strategic decisions regarding Landstar Mexico Cross border Services

Required Minimum Experience And Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience
  • Eight years of related leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of logistics operational experience

Preferred Experience And Education

  • Experience with BCO's and agent-based business model
  • Experience with the Mexico (International) market
  • Prior experience dealing with Mexican motor carriers and revenue requirements to move freight in both the U.S. and Mexico
  • Direct customer sales experience
  • Terminal operations experience
