Raptor is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President of Government Relations to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government affairs, with a focus on the K12 education sector at either the national or state level, and a passion for advocating for policies that enhance school safety. This role will report to the Chief Marketing and Government Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to engage with federal, state, and local government officials on issues related to school safety.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that impact the school safety industry and provide timely analysis to internal stakeholders.
- Cultivate relationships with key policymakers, education associations, and advocacy groups to advance Raptor’s policy priorities.
- Represent the company at meetings, hearings, and conferences with government officials and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop advocacy materials, including policy briefs, position statements, and testimony.
- Provide guidance and support to sales and marketing teams on government-related initiatives and opportunities.
- Track and report on government relations activities, including lobbying expenditures and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in government relations and school safety policy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 10-years of experience in government relations, lobbying, or public affairs, with a focus on education issues
- Strong understanding of the legislative process at the federal, state, and local levels
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence decision-makers
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of school safety policies, programs, and initiatives preferred.
- Experience working with education associations, school districts, or government agencies is a plus
- Commitment to our mission of creating safe and supportive learning environments for all students
Location: This position is remote but preferably near a major state capital or a major airport as the role will require travel to meet with government officials and attend relevant events.
