Job Summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta is hiring a Vice President of Club Operations to help us achieve our vision of becoming the premier youth organization in Metro Atlanta. Reporting to the Chief Programs and Operations Officer and supporting Regional Directors in four metro regions, this position will oversee all Club operations and services at multiple sites (currently 25) and build capacity to serve more youth while increasing impact.

The Vice President of Club Services will oversee four direct reports and provide strategy and oversight in Club operations, safety, and facilities maintenance to ensure an optimal youth experience. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience managing multi-site operations and a proven track record of building strong teams to implement quality youth development programs.

The Vice President of Club Services will closely partner with the Vice President of Youth Development to ensure that BGCMA facilities promote program quality, consistency, and outcomes. This individual advises and assists the Regional Directors in the efficient and effective daily operations of their cluster of Clubhouses and identifies and evaluates opportunities to improve efficiencies and the overall Clubhouse environment to drive youth attendance, engagement, and outcomes.

Essential Job Functions And Accountabilities

Regional Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Communicate, implement, and enforce the organization’s operational policies and procedures; monitor same for compliance.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve Clubs’ operations; design and communicate strategies to implement improvements.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Regional Directors on how to manage crises.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors to analyze the Club’s needs, resources, and community demographics to identify and recommend changes to optimize Club use by disadvantaged and at-risk communities.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors to analyze and review Club membership levels and average daily attendance and develop strategies to increase membership, average daily attendance, and achieve optimal daily attendance levels.
  • Collaborate with the CPOO to determine Club policy concerning hours, shutdowns, costs to youth, extension sites, and obtaining and utilizing community and volunteer support; communicate policy to Club management and monitor for compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Youth Development to improve program quality and delivery across clusters.
  • Collaborate with human resources regarding recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and other H.R. policies and practices; ensure policies are communicated to Club management and monitor compliance.
  • Collaborate and partner with Resource Development on implementing initiated grants and is accountable for supporting regions complying with grant requirements.
  • Perform monthly Club audits on membership and average daily attendance data.

Regional Budgets

  • Analyze the regional operations’ needs, develop budgets that support those needs, monitor budgets, and report variances in revenue and expenditures.
  • Collaborate with the SVP of Finance and Controller to monitor Club budgets and develop strategies to control expenditures and achieve a balanced budget.

Staff Management & Development

  • Ensure qualified staff and volunteers are recruited, trained, developed, and retained, following Club protocol and procedures.
  • Develops performance objectives for direct reports, monitors performance, and provides ongoing and periodic feedback on performance; ensures regional management follows the same activities.
  • Collaborates with V.P. of Operations & Evaluations to determine staffing levels that best support effective Club operations and program delivery.

Facilities and Property Management

  • Work closely with the SVP, Safety and Facilities to assess risks and implement programs and policies to minimize loss and exposure to loss.
  • Identify and prioritize capital improvements needed, secure approval from the SVP, Safety, and Facilities, and monitor projects to completion.
  • Conduct walk-throughs at Clubs regularly to ensure they are safe, attractive, and well-maintained.
  • Review requests for building, equipment, and grounds maintenance and repairs in the region; prioritize and allocate resources accordingly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop authentic relationships with external stakeholders, including government, school district, community leaders, donors, families, volunteers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Other duties as requested by CPOO.

Educational Qualifications And Skills

Education

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college is required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years of supervisory operations experience in youth development
  • Demonstrate ability to organize, direct, and coordinate operations, facilities, and budget management.
  • Strong management and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, procedures, principles, and practices of non-profit organizations and youth development services, preferably Boys & Girls Clubs, preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Excellent human relations skills and ability to motivate staff and board.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.

Environment & Working Conditions

Normal internal office environment with frequent travel to Clubs and the Support Center. Weekend and evening work to support organization’s fundraising events, committee meetings, special events, and activities. Frequent internal contact with employees throughout organization is required. Physical requirements include walking, climbing stairs, and sitting for four plus hours per day. Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Exempt employees are not entitled, under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), to the protections of the wage and hour laws of the state or the FLSA. Exempt employees must always be paid on a salary basis and not be subject to reduction based on the quality or quantity of work performed.
