Summer STEM Camp Counselor in San Diego held at UCSD

Areteem Institute is looking for passionate and energetic counselors for our Summer Program held at

• UC San Diego from July 21st to August 9th, 2024.
  
  
  

Qualified candidates will be considered for additional opportunities (online or onsite) after the camp ends depending on needs, qualifications, and availability. Ideal candidates are located close to San Diego.

Areteem's Summer Program is a competitive math program open to middle and high school students and covers advanced problem solving techniques. It provides a great opportunity to work with gifted and motivated students and share your knowledge and passion for Math and STEM.

Counselors stay in the dorms with students and are provided room and meals free of charge. They receive a stipend upon camp completion. During the camp, counselors:

• Help with check-in and check-out of campers and assist with pick-up and drop-off of students at the airport.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate after class sports, social, and recreation activities. Supervise students during free time and on field trips to ensure both enjoyment and safety.
• Perform night and morning checks ensuring students get to sleep and wake up for breakfast and class.
• Ensure students' well being and help them develop social and life skills.
• Support academic faculty with class needs including but not limited to printing and copying class materials, coordinating classroom readiness and any schedule changes, and running errands for camp supplies.
  
  
  

Overall, counselors are tasked with ensuring the program runs smoothly and all participants have the best experience possible.

Leadership and communication skills are essential, with counselors taking an active leadership role in planning and executing camp activities.

• Should be outgoing, personable, and act as a positive and caring role model for students.
• Must be willing to commit to the entire three weeks of the camp (with one day off per week)
• Those without a first aid certification must be willing to get one before the start of camp.
  
  
  

A reliable leader with a positive, can-do attitude makes a perfect candidate. Camp counselor experience and a STEM background are desirable but not mandatory.
