SECURITY OPERATIONS MANAGER


POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Security Operations Manager primary responsibility will be to support the establishment and then manage the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and global travel risk program. The GSOC is responsible for coordinating the response to safety and security incidents, ranging from unauthorized entry and theft to natural disasters and emergencies. This entails mobilizing security personnel, liaising with law enforcement, and executing evacuation or lockdown procedures as necessary. The GSOC shall serve as the single point of contact involving emergency response and crisis management globally of all offices and personnel. This role oversees operational effectiveness, audit compliance, staffing, scheduling, supervision, and training of the Operators within the GSOC. In addition, and as part of the mission of the GSOC, the Security Operations Manager will administer the global travel risk program that consists of tracking all travelers, conducting risk assessments, communicating with travelers, and planning and executing mitigation measures designed to safeguard personnel while traveling. The successful candidate will have supervisory experience within a Global Security Operations Center for a multi-national firm or corporation and have demonstrated experience developing a high performing team, using strong customer service skills and the ability to facilitate effective communication internally and externally to perform this job. This person should be a highly pro-active leader that is able to assist in developing the GSOC operation. The standard hours for the position will be Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however this role requires supporting a security operations center that is 24/7 supporting offices in North America, Europe and Asia, and some flexible working hours are required. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as

necessary.)


Develop the GSOC Playbook consisting of SOPs for the operation of the GSOC and detailed job procedures for GSOC Operators.

Manage and supervise a staff of up to 10 contracted GSOC Operators (2 Operators 24x7)

Work with a team to manage real-time information, from internal and external sources about a specific risk incident delivered as quickly as possible after the initial event; in many cases, within minutes.

Provide real-time situational awareness: identifying and helping staff manage emerging threats with actionable insights and clear communication during critical events.

Manage tools coming from multiple sources to include:

  • Access control systems, alarm monitoring, and response
  • Video surveillance to detect unauthorized access or activities indicative of a security breach
  • 24/7 dedicated security email and phone
  • External news and information sources such as social media monitoring tools, news feeds, and real-time information platforms
  • Risk monitoring platform with locations of interest, which involves staying informed about local and global security events, assessing potential threats to the organization, and adapting security measures accordingly.
  • Mass communication tools
  • Travel information platforms and related travel briefings and support to personnel

Participate in the selection, orientation, training, development and retention of high caliber personnel to ensure all operator positions are properly staffed. 

Plans, directs, and coordinates day-to-day activities of the GSOC. Evaluates and assesses workload, work methods and procedures, and administrative support systems. Meets with staff and management to identify opportunities for improvement, resolve problems, and implement changes.

Reports on GSOC operations to management; addresses any actual or potential problems in operation; supports security planning, as requested.

Provides input to Firm initiatives and physical security projects; promptly assists in resolution of administrative issues.

Develops and maintains the standardized procedures associated with the operation of the GSOC. 


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Work Experience, Skills

The selected candidate must hold an associate’s degree and four or more years responsible experience in the security industry and/or business management or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of this position. This includes:

  • Three or more years in a security operations center
  • Experience in high pressure security environments

Ability to maintain positive, professional working relationships with other staff, vendors, attorneys, clients, and external parties at all levels

Must be able to make quick and accurate decisions under stress

Is flexible regarding scheduled hours/days of work


Technologies/Software

Competent in Microsoft Office suite of tools

Experience with CCure access control system and Exacq CCTV a plus


Certificates, Licensures, Registrations

ASIS International certification preferred - CPP, PSP, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.


Salary $135,000/yr.
