Innovation is at the core when creating the next-generation of smart and sustainable products to every day, help billions of people move through a safer, more open world with ease. As an engineer at ASSA ABLOY you can expect hands-on practical work, problem-solving and using a creative mind, and a great team of colleagues of course. To highlight International Women in Engineering Day, we asked Jackie, Elin, Anupreeta and Crystal what they think about their job in the field at ASSA ABLOY: Jackie Carter, Senior design engineer, USA:   “My advice to women considering a career in engineering is to ignore the gender biases around STEM careers. Do what fulfills you and focus on perfecting that!” Elin Elfström, Mechatronics engineer, Sweden: “The engineering industry may not be as equal as you would want it to be, but we are moving in the right direction. Being a woman in engineering at ASSA ABLOY means being part of an inclusive and innovative team where your contributions are valued, and your career growth is supported. I encourage you to join us, where we dare to innovate ourselves, our products, and our industry.” Anupreeta Bandyopadhyay, Software developer, Sweden: “I am thrilled to engage with cutting-edge technologies, particularly advanced access control systems using digital wallets. What I like most about my job at ASSA ABLOY is the opportunity to work in close collaboration with teams internally as well as get customer feedback directly, freedom to innovate and get acknowledgement.” Crystal Cloherty, Development engineer, Ireland: “My work is so interesting, I am learning every day and am trying new things constantly. I have developed an “Anti-Counterfeiting” lab here in our Galway site and am everyday learning of new tests to conduct and new ways to ensure the security of our ID documents, and of course, the security of the citizens who use them.” #assaabloy #INWED24 #EnhancedByEngineering

Jan Ambroz is from Prague, the Czech Republic. He is the Director and Head of HR for East Europe Commercial & EMEIA Door Business Segment and has been with ASSA ABLOY since 2019.    In a few words, what does an HR director do?     “They are the vital bridge connecting management and employees. They ensure the company not only attracts, retains, and develops the best talent but also fosters a positive and productive work environment. Their role is crucial in guiding everyone towards a shared vision of success, making sure each person feels inspired and valued along the journey.”    Which of our core values do you identify most with? (Empowerment, Innovation, Integrity) “Integrity – I was raised to have the courage to speak up and stand for the truth. Trust is built on honesty, not on telling people what they want to hear. Many people are hesitant to share their opinions due to hierarchy or other reasons, so I foster a psychologically safe environment to encourage open communication.”    What do you like to do outside of work? “I have a strong interest in sports, particularly gym workouts, kickboxing, and tennis are my favourites. I hit the gym three times a week before heading to the office, and it's incredibly refreshing. It leaves me feeling energized, strong, and in a positive mood. Food is another passion of mine, though I'm more into trying and enjoying different cuisines than cooking. Asian cuisine is my favourite. Additionally, I find relaxation in music and spending time in nature.”    What would you say to someone looking to join a team at ASSA ABLOY Group? “Consider joining ASSA ABLOY if you value autonomy and accountability. If you're driven to make an impact and witness the results of your efforts, if you enjoy collaborating with diverse teams to explore solutions and learn, if you seek a workplace where camaraderie and enjoyment prevail even during challenging times or projects. In short, if you thrive on and welcome change, ASSA ABLOY is the place for you.”    Do you have a quote for us? “To cultivate a robust team, it's essential to view someone else's strengths as a complement to our weaknesses, rather than a threat to our position or authority.” Do you want to be part of creating a safer and more open world?
