In the psychometrist role, you will ensure the accurate assessment of psychological test scores as well as provide detailed behavioral observations to aid in the interpretation of psychological tests. Key functions of this role include patient scheduling, demographic data collection, and other administrative tasks. Success in this role will be demonstrated by your ability to assist clinical psychologists and clinical neuropsychologists make appropriate psychological assessments of each examinee.
Psychometrist Job Responsibilities and Duties
Writes progress notes to keep other clinical personnel informed of patient behavior
Ensures accuracy, security, and availability of information
Observes each patient’s behavioral conditions throughout the testing processes
Provides observation summaries for each patient
Scores evaluations in a standardized manner
Performs inventory checks on forms and tools needed prior to conducting tests
Debriefs patients regarding test results
Provides psychotherapy in 60 minute increments
Psychometrist Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or other related fields; Master’s degree in Quantitative Psychology or General Psychology preferred
Certification from the Board of Certified Psychometrists is preferred
1 year of work experience in a mental health institution or similar institution
Excellent observation and communication skills
Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
