MLS Microbiology Supervisor

Thomas Talent Network, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced MLS Microbiology Supervisor to join our team. As the Microbiology Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely testing of specimens and adherence to laboratory regulations and quality standards. You will also play a key role in managing and training laboratory staff, establishing and implementing protocols, and maintaining inventory and equipment. This is a leadership position that requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate activities of laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
• Ensure compliance with laboratory regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and other applicable standards
• Monitor quality control procedures and troubleshoot any issues
• Review and validate test results, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and coordination of patient care
• Oversee inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, and address any malfunctions or repairs
• Participate in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols
• Stay current with advancements and changes in laboratory technology and best practices
  
  
  

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science

MLS or equivalent. ASCP certification preferred.

4 years experience working in Micro Biology in an acute care facility.

Must have understanding of AST breakpoints

Experience with Quality assurance procedures.
