Position Summary

The field service technician is responsible for helping clients install, repair, and maintain equipment. This position is a member of the service department. A few of the main duties of a field service technician are troubleshooting the equipment, advising the customer on how to use the equipment, building relationships with customers, and following company procedures. They will work closely with the sales team to meet customer needs. This position must be customer oriented. The duties as described below represent the majority of the position’s requirements, however due to the dynamic nature of the role, other functions may be required as set forth by the COO and ever-changing business conditions. While the ideal candidate has a strong technical background, they are also organized and structured in both thought and action.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
  • Cooperate with all teams and share information across the organization.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs and modifications on the mechanical, electrical, or software aspects of equipment at customer sites.
  • Assist in the start-up, checkout, installation, and testing of new equipment.
  • Create reports of the customers and machines serviced that day.
  • Follow all the company's procedures.
  • Instruct personnel at customer sites on the safety, proper operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment to improve efficiency of customer productivity.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

  • 2-year Mechanical or Trade School or 4+ years of in-field experience in service and repair of applicable products may be substituted.
  • 5+ years field service experience requiring mechanical and electrical repair and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and the ability to read and understand equipment manuals.
  • Ability to use a variety of mechanical, electrical, and testing tools successfully and effectively.
  • Experience with machine tool repairs (or similar)
  • Must pass a basic mechanical and electrical assessment.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including word processing, Excel spreadsheets and CAD software.

Preferred, Not Required

  • Knowledge of 3-D CAD software.
  • Sheet metal and / or fabrication experience.
  • Experience in training / instruction.
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, or German
