Data Reporting & Analysis Specialist

Alternative Markets is currently searching for a Data Specialist to support our program business.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares moderately complex financial and business related analysis and reporting. Defines business and legal reporting requirements through research, interpretation of regulations, and business unit requests to meet customer needs.
  • Collects and analyzes data for validity and accuracy in preparation of assigned reports.
  • Develops and maintains department databases and assesses quality of data used in moderately complex reports.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of data sources content and structure to assess the quality of data.
    • Identifies and makes recommendations for resolution of identified issues in data and reporting quality.
    • Utilizes department / company software to prepare moderately complex data queries.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of industry and company products/coverages and applies that knowledge to support business activity.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of relevant resource materials and manuals may include: statistical manuals, statistical plans, coding guides, claims, underwriting, and premium audit files.
  • Provides technical advice to lower level associates and other functional areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related discipline OR equivalent experience
  • 4 or more years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in relational database tools (i.e., SQL, Cognos, etc.).
  • Proficiency in TOAD or similar query and reporting tool.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products especially Excel.
  • Successful candidate should be able to create ad hoc reports including join queries, create prompts, charts, etc.
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry preferred.
