Previously there was much more of the focus on internal controls and compliance but and the CFO now has specific accountability for driving not only an innovation within a corporation but also profitable growth.

CFO's have looked for greater efficiency within enterprise transformation been able to reduce cost when changes need to be made to be able to be more nimble to respond the business needs and to be able to be more responsive to regulatory bureaus. If you look at the overall savings from enterprise transformation up to 70% of that is achieved through consolidation and optimization of global systems.

There's a number of different areas where CFOs can leverage analytics ranging from regulatory analytics, to spend analytics, to compliance analytics, assurance analytics, even profit leakage analysis and all of these end up driving more to the bottom line in terms of profit.

Over the last two years the number of companies reporting that they have achieved significant competitive advantage to the use of analytics has risen from 33% to 67%. Clearly this is fast moving market and analytics has become an indispensable tool to the chief financial officer.

Hear Steve Harvey, Global Technology & Analytics Leader, IBM Global Process Services explore how over the next five years marketing departments are going to be spending more money on IT and as we start to look across what's really driving this, it's digital marketing.

With the rise in social media engaging with individuals has never been as important as it is today. Previously, chief marketing officers would create different segments or clusters of individuals and they would market to them in the exact same manner that's no longer the case. What more and more companies are trying to do is market to every single individual uniquely.

Trying to sort of look at data is almost sort of breadcrumbs and you're trying to pick up all of those breadcrumbs to put together and overall picture of what's actually happening. I think using beginning to mind both structured as well as unstructured information is critical.

If you look at analytics within a call center what Chief Marketing Officers is really want to be able to do is not just used that as someone answering the call but used that as a revenue generating channel. And by being able to identify who's calling in and doing the targeted offer for that individual you're able not just to give them a better user experience but also drive incremental revenue for your company.

Ultimately consumers want to have a better experience that's not invasive to their overall privacy and if companies can make better decisions to improve your overall experience, that's going to be a win-win for both areas.
