All communities should be seen, heard, and acknowledged. Disaggregated data allows for the ability to leverage nuances in health outcomes into solutions for improved health care and wellbeing for all. This is especially true for all vulnerable or visibly neglected ethnic and minority groups. By increasing the data categories related to race, ethnicity, and culture we can better capture and increase visibility of the needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. A Notice by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on 06/03/2024: CDS Connect-Designing the Future of a National Hub for Clinical Decision Support: Request for Information SUMMARY: Clinical decision support (CDS) enables providers and others to implement up-to-date research findings quickly into their practice. In 2016, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) supported the development of (CDS) by establishing CDS Connect, a platform to assist the healthcare community in creating and disseminating CDS artifacts. In 2023, AHRQ conducted a CDS Connect Challenge Competition to identify business models and platform enhancements that will allow CDS Connect to evolve its role as a national CDS hub. Based on the results of this Challenge Competition, AHRQ has issued the following Request for Information (RFI) to solicit ideas and identify possible collaborators for creating a new sustainment model (such as a Public Private Partnership [PPP] between AHRQ and a third-party organization) that ensures CDS Connect's future operations. #CDS #clinicaldecisionsupport https://lnkd.in/gMB7UP3h

WHAT in the actual UP is with these public/gov data websites?!?! I published a list of 100 Open-Source Datasets back in Jan on Health Data Guru. Doing so, I noted fairly horrendous user experience on 90%+ of these public data sites. There were several themes that made me smh, because I personally checked every site to see if the data was available and how usable it seemed before including it: 1. All this data creates a LOT of NOISE for people trying to find the most basic of information. Many of the sites are overwhelming, outdated, text dense, and hard to navigate. Many of the sites are so complex and have so much technical and healthcare jargon you must know in order to even navigate the site let alone use the data. 2. Finding the actual button to download the dataset is extremely nested/hidden/buried under text/wayyyyyy at the bottom… if it is easy to find at all. This seems odd to me since I assume that 90%+ of traffic to these pages are coming to find and download the data. Why not make it big and obvious? 3. Accompanying and similarly easy-to-find Data Dictionaries were co-located with only about 50% of the sources cited. A common issue I have with public sources like this is knowing what field names mean, what values/value sets are, and where the data comes from. This should be part and parcel with any public data set, imho. 4. The Federal government seems to assume we all use SAS and Stata. While most of them have a download option for a spreadsheet, text table, or otherwise, it can often require more work/time, when they make code available "off-the-shelf" for SAS. Why not have a SQL equivalent? 4. CMS’s website is full of broken links, announcements of old data tools, and is damn near impossible to find what you’re looking for. This surprises... no one... reading this, but it seems time they really invest in revising this. Easier said than done, as the sheer volume of information (current and historical) that needs to be on this site is insurmountable. Could LLM search/organization/or crawl tools help? 5. Along those lines, data.cms.gov has gotten almost as equally unwieldy. Seemed like a good idea at the time: centralize all the CMS data (of which there is commendably a lot) into a “one stop shop” for data users. But there are so many different types of data housed here that the data you’re looking for rarely comes to the top of the search, the lingo is very challenging for a non-healthcare user, and some of the most common datasets are buried or seemingly non-existent in the search by the name most of us would search for them (hospital compare, public use files, fee schedule/rvu list, etc). 6. Many sites are starting to publish their own visualizations, dashboards, and exploratory tools. This is great if you want to come find some quick info. If they could also make the download raw data option more easily accessible for those of us who need to go deeper, that would be ideal.

To meet CMS’ commitment to have all #Medicare beneficiaries in value-based payments (VBP) by 2030, payers have to dig deeper into #VBP design flaws and explore new strategies like: •Creating a coordinated set of VBP model designs to cut wasteful or inefficient spending without asking one participant to forgo all the revenue. •Introducing real savings requirements for shared savings, or implementing a risk-score growth cap to encourage better care practices. •Leaning into mandatory participation in new VBP programs to help ALL types of Medicare beneficiaries – not just larger-scale organizations. The WHO has long been a proponent of using digital health to drive greater health equity across emerging and less developed markets. It also sees AI in healthcare potentially playing a similar role by leveraging limited available resources to deliver healthcare to patients. There are some common themes covered in the article that align closely to Peach Health Asia's ideas about using digital health products to drive greater health equity in Asia. The strongest of these is the use digital health tools to expand the use of current healthcare resources, allowing 'more to be done with less'. The helicopter view of 'let's use AI' is a good starting point to approach the health equity problem in emerging markets The challenge of course rests in translating that idea into reality which is complicated by language barriers, technology savviness of both HCPs and consumers, liability and patient data security issues just to name a few. Building the right AI tools are important but figuring out how to get these tools deployed at scale in emerging markets is likely to be the bigger barrier. This has certainly been the same challenge that has tripped many players in the digital therapeutics space in developed world markets. Challenges aside, there is no denying the potential beneficial impact of AI on the healthcare space and while these challenges may take some time to solve they are certainly worth working on. #healthequity #digitalhealth #digitalhealthcare

I’ve been given advice that the fastest way to monetize HER Heard without charging the end user (woman) is trackers and selling data. Instead, I’d like to build something more trustworthy. I don’t want to be in a headline like this. If you are not paying, then you are the product (you/your data are being sold). There are newer ways to deindentify data or even to aggregate things women search for that can be of interest to various stakeholders. In theory that could be okay to sell, but in a post-Roe world with laws encouraging bounty hunting, I am vetting the choices ahead. I am all for moving fast, without breaking things.
