The IAB Predicts Social Video Will Overtake CTV This Year. Social video “is taking more of a lead over CTV” because it provides better campaign reporting based on an advertiser’s preferred business outcomes, a capability that CTV lacks in comparison. Marketers are under pressure to justify their investments by connecting their ads to results, which is why they’re raising investments in social video more than CTV this year. As a 40+ woman, I am definitely feeling the lack of focus by most consumer brands, ironically, when I'm the most willing (and able) to spend more for quality. Only 5-10% of marketing budgets are earmarked for an over-50 audience, BUT: 💰 Women drive 70-80% of all consumer purchasing, either through buying power or influence  💸 And women older than 50 drive $15 trillion in spending power—which is 27% of all consumer spending in the U.S. 🤑 By 2030, women are expected to control much of the $30 trillion in wealth that is soon to transfer from baby boomers to younger generations—namely millennials, who will all be in their mid-30s to late-40s by then [GASP]. I know I'm not alone in feeling like everything in the #marketing ecosystem is changing faster than ever. But when I talk to marketers (and that's a major part of my job), I'm surprised by how often #media convergence is mentioned in passing or relegated to a second-class priority. Connecting with creative industry leaders at the BrXnd.ai conference was refreshing. Two takeaways: 1) A.I is a feedback machine, not a generation engine. Marketers don't need more ideas. As people search using Google’s SGE, long-tail keywords and FAQs with high search volume will become key players in the SEO game. For example, the search term “can i drive with a nail in my tire” will be more likely to populate compared to the term “toyota tires” based on how people search in Google. Obsess much? (100 points to anyone that gets the movie reference.) Commerce marketers are obsessed with retail media, for good reason. It continues to be hugely impactful for business. Recent research using Arc Worldwide's Impact Evaluator tool to dive into the data serves up a good reminder for the industry: Retail media has an important role to play, but it is only one piece of the complex puzzle that is commerce marketing.
