Well here you go…. Scouting Talent: In both baseball and recruiting, success starts with scouting. You need to identify raw talent and potential, whether it’s a young player in the minor leagues or a promising candidate in the job market. Building a Team: Just like a baseball team needs a mix of skills – pitchers, hitters, fielders – a company needs diverse talents. Finding the right balance is crucial. Training and Development: In baseball, continuous training turns potential into performance. The same goes for new hires. Ongoing development and support are key to unlocking their full potential. Adaptability: A great baseball player adapts to different pitchers and game situations. Similarly, top recruits need to be flexible and adapt to various challenges in their roles. Performance Metrics: Baseball relies heavily on stats to measure success. In recruiting, tracking metrics like time-to-hire, quality of hire, and retention rates is vital. Of course the same goes with new hires, knowing their stats is a huge key to tracking success. Just like in baseball, recruiting salespeople is about finding the right talent, building a cohesive team, and continuously developing skills for peak performance. Throughout my time as a sports professional, I have found myself in a constant chase for the next step. I am an extremely motivated individual and, like most in the sports sales business, I started out in an inside sales program with a passion for leadership and helping others. Inside sales shaped me to constantly work for the next promotion, never get comfortable, and always be outperforming myself day in and day out. While this is a fantastic mindset to have, it can be heavy and exhausting to feel like you have to prove yourself every day. To combat this feeling, I have been meeting with leaders across the industry to get advice and insight on the path to leadership. Here are some of my favorite pieces of advice about working toward that coveted leadership position and reframing your perspective on your current role: - Never take the easy route. It can be so easy to take the simplest or fastest way to your goals or expectations, but the best way to train yourself towards leadership is to find a sustainable way to hit your goals. - Don't rush it. Be patient when looking for your next step. Be picky. Make a list of what you want in a position or organization and stick to it. Pick the job that fits your standards -- don't mold your standards to fit the job. - Each stop along your path to leadership, you're collecting tools for your toolbelt. Your time in inside sales, as an account executive, or as a senior on your team is the foundation for your role in leadership. Your organization has given you the opportunity to perfect your skills, so take advantage of the time you have to do so. - Finally, don't take your job so seriously. Explore the city you live in. Make friends. Take a break when you need one! Don't deprive yourself of fun and rest when needed. You're no good to anyone if you're consistently burnt out. I encourage everyone interested in a leadership path to network with leaders in your industry. The sports industry is blessed with so many helpful and genuine people who want to see others reach their full potential and most have been exactly where you are now. Take full advantage of these opportunities to meet and learn from the best! 7 THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM 10+ NIL DEALS💰🏈👋 1. NIL is for EVERYBODY. If you're D1, D2 or D3, you can capitalize. It may not be the millions of dollars you see on the news, but if you're a D3 athlete, you can reach out to local businesses, get a ton of free products, and explore the possibilities. At the end of the day, if you can help a business you are valuable.💰 2. You don't need a massive following to reach out to local companies. You don't need a massive following to DM/email your favorite companies. You don't need a massive following to be an advocate for yourself. Not enough student-athletes are putting themselves out there. If you send 100 emails and only 2 companies give you free products, I'd call that a win.🤷‍♂️ 3. NIL takes time. Writing emails, making video pitches, and sending DM's isn't glamorous by any means, but that's what will help you be successful. It's been roughly 3 years since the law has been passed, and still very people know what's happening. Every single athlete is overwhelmed. Be overwhelmed with how many brands you've reached out to/ 📧 4. Money is awesome, but so are free things. Not all brands are willing to pay you, and that's okay. As a broke student-athlete, I love free stuff, especially if its from a brand I love. 5. Athletes that can get an audience to like them are the ones that WIN. Brands can find athletes anywhere. What is rare is an athlete that connects with an audience and get people to enjoy their content. Make a podcast, post vlogs, answer your comments, and BE YOURSELF. 6. The earlier you start, the easier it will be. I hope that through my content on social media, there will be high schoolers that will be inspired to start creating content. Because the reality is, you have at-most 5 years in college to capitalize on NIL (that's assuming you come in as a freshmen ready to put yourself out there). And making content takes time to get better at and understand what works. You have to get reps in, and the earlier you do that the better off you will be. "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time, RIGHT NOW." 7. IT'S FUN, AND IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE🤩 NIL is a blast. Don't take it too seriously and always remember that you are gaining valuable skills and setting yourself up for the future! As a student-athlete, you are the valuable resource. They must pay athletes for the use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights, potentially costing billions in back pay and ongoing expenses. Here are the details: Eligibility: Athletes eligible for compensation include those whose NIL was used in broadcasts from 2017-2020. I am heading into my 9th season covering or helping NFL athletes. On the media side, I have mentored journalists, reporters, and anchors on the importance of asking the right questions and on the marketing side, I have helped other agencies get their clients into Super Bowl events and speaking engagements during that week. I keep telling people that media needs public relations or communications specialist, and public relations specialists needs media. Now, in this clip, my team had the opportunity to ask Aaron Donald about the importance of playing for the Rams. Now, great question. Here's the marketing side of things. You have your own unique question for starters, so now you can post a clip on your podcast or Youtube channel and talk about it, secondly, consistent content will get you into the doors of covering NFL community event, as well as potential Super Bowls. I have covered 4 Super Bowls and counting, so I know what I am talking about and lastly, since everyone is projecting a lifestyle, these are the events that will keep an audience, you can find unique ways for product placements, and more unique things that you can do to bridge the media and marketing relationships. I forgot to mention, stay connected to sports agents, publicists, and PR Firms or agencies. Ask to get on their media list. Trust me, the act of pitching is essential with media and marketing. That is how you negotiate your value and worth. Learn, build, and have something others want. TIPS for today!!!!

This is the progression from average to elite when it comes to resumes and interviewing 👇 Average Sales Reps: No numbers or awards on their resume. They just explain their responsibilities Good Sales Reps: Numbers and awards on their resume. They are clearly successful, but when it comes to interview time that can't explain why. Great Sales Reps: Numbers and awards on their resume, and can clearly articulate why they have been successful. ELITE Sales Reps: Numbers, awards, can articulate why they are successful and can teach other people how to also be successful in their job. There are some other factors of course, but at the end of the day this is the real stuff. Can you explain why you are good? A great rep can transform a territory. A great rep who can teach can transform a region and sometimes an entire company. So while you're out there dominating - pay attention and take note of why and how things went well. Is the National Hockey League (NHL) promoting breaking the rules? This week's #fridaysfeaturedcreative is all about hockey's Stanley Cup Playoffs. Who has seen the ads? The Nashville Predators fan's "daring act" of smuggling a catfish into Bridgestone Arena (though it may have spoken to The Great Lakes State more if it were an octopus at the Joe). What is he going to do with it? Throw it on the ice. Surely security will stop him....what a twist, they are in on it to. This has to be against the rules, the 2018 Flyers and the 2016 Panthers have both received penalties from fans throwing items on the ice, and those were just plastic novelties not weird water wonders. How is the NHL just casually blurring the lines and encouraging throwing slimy critters on the play surface? Why are they highlighting this defiance? Because the NHL embraces enthusiasm of its fans and knows how we will navigate the gray areas of its regulations—proving that a little bit of controversy can be good for business. It's a clever nod to tradition (new or old) without explicitly endorsing an act, keeping the spirit of the game alive and the fans engaged. The larger campaign’s blend of humor and "fan stories" stretched the brand engagement and also celebrates the extraordinary lengths fans will go for their teams. These deep emotional connections bleed over and do a great job of getting casual fans engaged. Do you know what the catfish in Nashville is all about or the octopus in Detroit? Maybe not but now you might look into it. What are your thoughts? The rules clearly state: "When objects are thrown on the ice during a stoppage in play, including after the scoring of a goal....... result in a bench minor penalty being assessed to the home team." But then again it also says: "Articles thrown onto the ice following a special occasion (i.e. hat trick) will not result in a bench minor penalty being assessed." One of the most common hiring issues I run into is recruiting against the "Big Four" sports leagues for entry-level talent. While the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA carry prestige, starting at the minor/developmental league level offers valuable advantages: 1. **Sports Experience:** Breaking into the sports industry is challenging. Starting at the minor league level provides crucial entry-level experience vital for career growth. 2. **Learning Opportunities:** Working in minor leagues exposes you to diverse projects, offering insights into various aspects of a sports team beyond specialized roles found in the Big Four. 3. **Proximity to Executives:** Smaller organizations facilitate direct interaction with high-level executives, unlike the typical barrier in Big Four franchises. Collaboration towards common goals fosters a more inclusive environment. 4. **Potential Career Growth:** Beginning as an Inside Sales Representative with the Gulls, I've advanced to a Ticket Sales Manager role, showcasing how starting at a smaller league can lead to fulfilling career progression.
