Many innovative ideas can become obscured when communicated, which was a significant challenge for Patient Blood Management #PBM as it was introduced to benefit those suffering from #anemia, in hopes of enabling surgery without the use of donated blood upon leaving the ER (Emergency Room). The PBM educational approach supports bloodless surgical procedures. To reduce this obscurity, we are simplifying the message and increasing awareness, benefiting #researchers, manufacturers, and healthcare practitioners. Most importantly, we are enhancing the patient experience and raising public awareness. We are confident that many global organizations, healthcare providers, and blood management surgical equipment manufacturers will support our efforts as we continue to be pioneers in building a bridge of engagement for public access, which will benefit this field of medicine. Strategy and its execution. Bravo, Johnson & Johnson. Bold statement. $30 billion in planful M&A activity is nothing to sneeze at, particularly with the numbers quoted on the year-over-year performance for cardiology. This is very much a long view. And it looks like JNJ has the talent bench to actually get the job done - since “M&A is easy, but integration is hard.” Other interesting takeaways for me: ✅ RECORNEA’s announcement about its #keracotonus treatment ✅ the two gastric mentions, including the device that passes naturally after displacing stomach volume (hence food capacity) ——— Social media allows folks like Holly Scott and their thinking to be available. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Cathy Friedman, Executive Venture Partner at Google Ventures, at Fortune Brainstorm Health 2024. Our discussion primarily focused on the transformative potential of AI within the US healthcare system, as well as GV' keen interest in supporting companies that leverage technology to advance healthcare through AI. Google’s goal is to foster the growth of these innovative AI technologies, ultimately making the US healthcare system more efficient, and cost-effective. During our conversation, I had the opportunity to discuss Cognos' SINNAIS AI-driven implantable pump and its potential application for offering new and promising cure modality to improve Alzheimer cure outcome using Cognos' concept of Brain Microdialysis of CSF, a patented (https://lnkd.in/gx2z_mRY) technology. Alzheimer's disease affects over 50 million people worldwide, including about 5 million patients in the US, costing the US healthcare system over $305 billion annually. One of the foremost challenges facing pharmaceutical companies is effectively delivering drugs to the brain. Despite massive investments and efforts by pharmaceutical companies, utilizing countless scientists and millions in research, drugs often struggle to penetrate the brain due to the blood-brain barrier (BBB). SINNAIS will be an implantable pump that delivers drugs directly to the brain intraventricularly, helping the drugs bypass the BBB. Managing and finding a cure for millions of Alzheimer's patients will not be the work of a few companies or institutions; it will be the work of the nation. Cognos recognizes this challenge and is in the process of producing a white paper to introduce Cognos brain microdialysis of CSF concept to academic medical communities, physicians who are opinion leaders in the field, and private corporations whose technologies will complement and support tracking and monitoring patients using SINNAIS using AI. This also includes government agencies such as DARPA and the investment communities. Cognos anticipates that once the value of brain dialysis of CSF is fully understood and realized through supporting clinical data and SINNAIS is available commercially, Alzheimer's patients may have the opportunity to enjoy prolonged life with quality. Cognos plans to build a coalition of some of the most prominent and formidable CEOs whose companies’ technologies can complement SINNAIS to reach commercialization and make a positive impact in improving the treatment of Alzheimer's. Among these leaders, Cognos plans to reach out to BILL GATES, JEFF BEZOS, LARRY PAGE, SERGEY BRIN, JENSEN HUANG, DAVID RUBENSTEIN, and a host of other billionaires who will be invited to support the initiative, provide strategic financial resources, and help pave the way for finding a viable solution to this unmet need.

An American psychiatrist turned entrepreneur (David Mou MD MBA), a French VC with significant international experience (Sandrine Egron), a Thai public servant focused on innovation (Dr Krithpatka Boonfueng), and I shared insights across geographies on connected health, its limitations and opportunities. Key takeaways from what I thought was a refreshingly honest conversation about an otherwise overhyped or overdemonised approach: - Benefits are highly dependent on the condition and use case - Telecare is not always about 'better care cheaper', but also about 'bringing care where there is none'. - It's not inherently less empathetic, but can serve different emotional needs for different patients. Some will like the anonymity of sound-only or text-only interactions. - Triage is key, a lot can be solved by self-service or low-touch telehealth solutions (like a video-based reminder of how to use an asthma spray or a refill of a prescription), reducing the burden on A&E departments and so on.  - Let's not just focus on the patient, let's focus on all people involved, including doctors.  - Geographical needs are very different and so are business models, but the core needs are obviously often very similar. #connectedhealth #telemedicine #digitalhealth  #HT24 health.tech conference Image © health.tech Conference
