Happy Juneteenth, Happy Pride, Happy Black Music Month, and Happy #BlackFacts Week! Sometimes the loudest voices aren’t telling the whole story. NBJC, along with amazing partners @nclrights @humanrightscampaign @taskforceaf @glsen & @familyequality, just released a groundbreaking study called “Black Facts” with research collected by @hitstrategies. #BlackFacts flips the script by centering Black voices and experiences in vivid technicolors. This research exposes the “matrix of domination,” a system designed to divide us. But guess what? Our data also highlights the power of unity and shared struggles. What happens to one of us, truly affects all of us. ✊🏾 So, let’s disrupt the white noise and embrace “white supremacy rehab” (thanks @thecicibattle!). “Black Facts” is packed with data for anyone who wants to protect Black lives, build a stronger democracy, and have real conversations. Head over to https://lnkd.in/eRURKgcy to download the study and join the movement! #CiteThisData #Data #Research #CiteYourSource #CiteYourSources #DataScience #AI #Technology #Tech #Advocacy #Action #LetsALLGetFree ✊🏾

"Unapologetically Leading: The Black Women's Mixtape" is more than a platform, it’s a vibe and a community where we celebrate the stories and journeys of Black women leaders. Through centering their narratives, we aim to inspire connections and uplift voices that are often overlooked or stereotypically defined. "Unapologetically Leading" amplifies Black women by giving them space to take center stage and own their narratives and how they are shown to the world. Why the play on the word mixtape? Because we hope to curate an authentic and transparent look at their experiences, perspectives, and insights, noting that each narrative will be different, similar to the diverse tracks on your favorite album/mixtape. Ultimately, "Unapologetically Leading: The Black Women's Mixtape" isn't just about sharing stories; it's about reclaiming agency, and redefining what it means to lead unapologetically as a Black woman in today's world. If you are interested in sharing your story either through writing a piece or by being interviewed fill out the form below and share it with your network 💜 EDIT: This will close tomorrow at noon. #BlackWomenLeaders #CenteringBlackVoices #RedefiningLeadership #Leadership #Storytelling

Continually proud to work for this organization. This initiative will have a lasting impact. "African Americans have a higher cancer burden and face greater obstacles to cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and survival. In fact, Black people have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial/ethnic group for most cancers in the U.S." - https://lnkd.in/e7BUazj2 "The VOICES of Black Women is a study led by the American Cancer Society. The focus of this study is to better understand cancer and other health conditions among Black women. Results from this study will help inform how to improve the health of Black women for generations to come." - https://lnkd.in/ePry_MT2

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day of profound significance in American history. Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the long and difficult journey towards freedom and equality for all. The principles of Juneteenth are crucial because they remind us of the ongoing fight for justice, equality, and human rights. It is a day to reflect on the struggles and sacrifices made by those who fought for freedom and to honor their legacy. Juneteenth teaches us the importance of acknowledging and addressing the injustices of the past to create a more equitable and inclusive future. It is a day to come together as a community, to listen, learn, and support each other in our shared pursuit of a better world. Let's celebrate Juneteenth with gratitude for how far we've come and a renewed commitment to continue striving for a more just and equal society for all. Happy Juneteenth! #Juneteenth #Freedom #Equality #Justice #CelebrateHistory

Black Women in Executive Leadership (B-WEL)
Breaking Barriers 🌟 "Nineteen years after founding Akili Dada, Dr. Wanjiru Kamau-Rutenberg is on a new mission: to elevate and empower Black women across the world who have reached senior levels of management. B-WEL's ambition and mission are bigger. The scope is global, and we are doing three things; connecting Black senior female leaders around the world into a community of mutual support." Click the link below to be inspired by Dr. Wanjiru and find out about B-WEL's other two areas of focus. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dUrHUMew #WeAreBWEL #womeninleadership

I’ve been listening to Scott Galloway through my gateway Karaswisher for longer than I can remember now. He is insightful and I often find his views mirror my own. I am excited to read this book and get my kids to read it too. He has truly helped me understand how to think about AI and the future and how to think about Story Telling in a way that makes sense. If you get a chance, check out the #PivotPodcast.

Educational opportunity and literacy equity are facilitated, or frustrated, by broad and complicated systems of public financing. Andrew Kahrl's work, _The Black Tax: 150 Years of Theft, Exploitation, and Dispossession in America_ presents a story to be reckoned with, and some thinking about how these systems can be improved toward the goals they ought to serve. Recommended reading. https://lnkd.in/g_z8m_9V

In today's Ellevate Network's Mobilize Women 👩🏾Summit 2024 on the topic of Harnessing Women's Economic Power, the recent ruling (https://lnkd.in/gPbiq5wP) against the Fearless Fund was discussed. Championing The Fearless Fund and the Legacy of Generational Wealth The recent court ruling regarding the Fearless Fund is more than just a legal setback; it's a reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality in the entrepreneurial landscape. The Fearless Fund has been a beacon of hope and support for minority women-owned businesses, providing capital and the promise of generational wealth and security. Generational wealth is not merely about financial prosperity; it's about creating a legacy that transcends time, offering stability and opportunities for future generations. The Fearless Fund's commitment to fostering this wealth among African American women entrepreneurs is a testament to their vision of a more equitable future. Despite the challenges, the importance of organizations like the Fearless Fund cannot be overstated. They are the architects of a future where generational wealth is accessible to all, ensuring that the next generation inherits a foundation of financial security and empowerment. As we stand in support of the Fearless Fund, let's reaffirm our commitment to building a world where every entrepreneur has the chance to create a lasting legacy. Let's continue to fight for a society where generational wealth is not a privilege but a right for all. #GenerationalWealth #FinancialSecurity #WomenInBusiness #LegacyBuilding

Black women in particular have always predominated in the sector—and Black women in leadership are exactly what this sector needs and should be thankful for. It makes beautiful sense, this emergent leadership. And the speedy exit, which, make no mistake, will happen if things continue as they are, will also make sense—in this case, tragic. The tragedy, though, is the sector’s. Black women know how to say no—and tragedy is simply not something we will be taking on for anybody or anything. Joy and wellbeing and empowerment for all? Certainly. But apparently, the world isn’t ready for that. Black women leaders are being harassed, forced out, made severely ill, and are even dying. As Dr. Shauna Knox demands within: “Stop drowning us, and stop making us disappear.” Is the sector listening?
