Great post from Patrick that's a great perspective for marketing today. Not that a lot of small brands have the $ for TV, etc., but addressing both the social media markets as well as key retailer opportunities. Observationally, there is also a lot of current in-store display support for their Sour Patch Kids Oreos. While many on the natural, 'better for you' side tend to take issue with brands like this, they are focused on driving a larger 'share of stomach' in an 'expandable consumption' market as we used to discuss in prior lives. A key learning for emerging brands here is that getting your brand into the store is the simple part. The key is to do it in the most economical channel and spend the $ through a very sound and thoughtful process of getting it into consumer's shopping carts and pantries. Modernizing legacy brands for a new generation of consumers is no easy feat. Earlier in my career, I was fortunate to work on teams that accomplished that for two legacy Kraft Heinz brands: Jell-O and Crystal Light. Ad Age rounded up the top summer 2024 beverage alcohol trends, one of which being around the continued interest in low- and no- alcohol beverages.   At EIGHT Brewing Co., we've been all about a lower alcohol offering that complements your life without compromise since day one. With only 4% ABV, our low carb, low cal light lager is the perfect option, not only for the summer but every season.   I'm curious to watch the wider trend as it plays out across both the alcohol and traditional beverage categories. As and since we launched, we've watched more players roll out lower alc. / lower calorie offerings across wine, beer and spirits in an effort to continue to meet ever-evolving drinkers where they are. Full volume recovery for #packagedfood could take upwards of 18 months as consumers struggle to adjust to higher prices due to #inflation -- requiring #CPG companies to be more flexible and reinvest in their brands as they did during the pandemic, and forcing shareholders to practice patiences, warned General Mills CEO Jeff Harmening at Bernstein's 40th Annual Strategic Decisions Conference late last month. Hey CPG Fam– If you know me, you know I love connecting and empowering members of this community. In that spirit, I will be regularly sharing resources and insights that other entrepreneurs have found valuable. One in five consumers who purchase frozen food items usually buy a store-brand product, and that figure is growing, according to “The Power of Frozen 2023” report from the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and FMI- The Food Industry Association. The big factor turning the eyes of consumers toward private label products, unsurprisingly, is price. While private label and national-brand frozen products each saw unit share erosion in 2023 — down 3% for private label and down 5.4% for national brands — both segments saw dollar sales grow 7.7% during the prior year. Also notable is the rather weak brand loyalty that consumers have within frozen food despite the category’s having some long-standing national brands. The AFFI report found that 20% of consumers usually purchase private label frozen food products, while 16% said that they prefer national brands. THe debut of Bettergoods marks Walmart’s largest private-label launch in the food and beverage category in 20 years. The items fall under three category pillars: 1) Culinary experiences: Items with “innovative” recipes, elevated ingredients and trendy offerings, such as a hot honey seasoning for $3 and a line of jar soups, including a creamy corn jalapeno chowder for $4. 2) Plant-based: Products feature distinct green branding, such as oatmilk non-dairy frozen desserts for $3.44 a pint and a $4 cheese alternative. 3) “Made Without”: Products that cater to different dietary lifestyles, such as gluten free, or made without artificial flavors, colorings or added sugars. Takeaway: Rising grocery prices in 2022, drove cost-conscious consumers to shift to private labels to save money.​ However, the reasons now extend beyond price - consumers continue to buy private brands for their quality, taste, and ability to meet their specific dietary needs. #walmart #privatebrands #commerce

What's the typical sports nutrition consumer? There isn't one! Prinoval's latest white paper found that while all respondents were more active than average, their activity habits varied drastically. For example, 20% exercised twice weekly and 22.5% did so daily. We also discovered regional variation, with a third of Spanish respondents exercising daily compared to just one in seven in Italy.
