Our latest Talent Climate report with The Josh Bersin Company reveals that despite the proven benefits of strategic workforce planning, organizations are failing to fully capitalize on the transformative potential it offers. A recent poll from the American Staffing Association finds that 43% of U.S. workers are burned out at their job, underscoring the need for HR leaders to understand and address engagement within their organization.  In this short article Mindi Cox suggests that leaders should reframe their view of engagement and consider the actions that lead to greater fulfillment. When HR leaders find that engagement is lacking, it’s nearly always connected to a lack of fulfillment in several key areas. Employee fulfillment is easier to measure than employee engagement, Mindi Cox says, adding that experts have identified four areas of psychological needs related to fulfillment:  sense of connection;   purpose;   mastery; and   flexibility. #engagement #fullfillment #culture #recognition

Increasingly my clients and prospective clients have been asking questions about the Mental Health Parity & Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and how to ensure compliance. This is a great overview by Mercer Sr. Partner Tracy Watts and Cheryl H. Principal Attorney for Law & Policy. Key take aways for employers focused on this legislation: 🤔 Proposed changes to MHPAEA are centered around 2 enforcement priorities. 1. Impermissible exclusion of key treatment. For SUD this is Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT). 2. Network Adequacy. For SUD we have an access crisis in the US. More than 40% of US Counties have ZERO access to MAT for Opioid Use Disorder. 🤔 Since the start of the pandemic we have seen sustained utilization of digital behavioral health solutions. Nearly 1/3 of ALL behavioral health visits are conducted this way. 🤔 As a result of an access crisis, large employers are adding supplemental networks to expand access to care. 🤔 If the proposed changes to the legislation are approved they will go into effect as soon as the 2025 plan year. How can you differentiate your organization as you compete for talent? Here are a few recommendations. Talent leaders should be ensuring that organizations have the right upskilling and talent mobility programs in place. A positive culture, a competitive total compensation package, and flexible work arrangements are still top priorities for job applicants. To my friends who are seeking new opportunities, invest in your development. Employers in health care and government were the most likely to say that candidates lacked the right certifications and credentials, according to the SHRM research.
