Organizations who overlook the ‘social well-being’ factor in their corporate wellness packages may be limiting their company’s long-term profitability. Social well-being is the ability to connect with others, collaborate well, and feel a sense of belonging. But its benefits go far beyond good workplace banter or productive meetings. Research tells us social well-being is essential to health, longevity, and our ability to combat chronic disease and fight illness. So when companies invest in employee social well-being, they’re not just getting happier teams; they’re looking at some serious returns on investment through a healthier workforce. But there's also a link between satisfying relationships and productivity, and creativity at work. According to the Harvard Study of Adult Development, quality relationships are the key measure to a satisfying life. Whether those relationships are in the workplace or outside of it, the stronger they are, the more likely someone is to give their highest quality of attention to their job. And that benefits everyone. #EmployeeWellness #WorkplaceWellBeing #HR

Should your workplace support you to be fit and healthy? Who's responsibility is it - yours or theirs? I'm super clear - it's both, because an inclusive approach to wellness is a win/win for everyone. It's well documented that employers who engage with the 'whole' person create a more positive workplace culture and a healthy workforce is a productive one. More than this though, I think the duty of care from employers, and what they can ask for in return from their teams, has evolved. Today's workforce is looking for more and as leaders we have to think differently. I'm so excited to be pioneering a scheme at ADP called the 'Wellness Accelerator'. We're providing the tools and technology our teams need to make changes to their physical and mental wellbeing that are important to them. It's a personal journey and each individual will get out of this what they put in - but we're making it as easy as possible for those who want to take control and make a change. Let me know in the comments if you'd like me to keep posting about this initiative and the success we're seeing! #WorkplaceWellness #ThinkingDifferently #PowerYourProductivity #LeadingByExample

Why is Workplace Health Equity so important? Sarah was dedicated and hard working. Despite her talent and drive, Sarah suffered with chronic pain that often impacted her productivity and well-being. Having a CEO that was an intelligent about business but also emotionally intelligent. Recognizing the importance of supporting employees like Sarah, the CEO David, partnered with the HR leaders to start improving workplace health equity within the company. Inspired by insights from a study on health conditions among workers, leadership implemented a comprehensive wellness program. This program provided resources for employees like Sarah to manage chronic pain, access mental health support, and foster a culture of inclusivity. Through the wellness program, Sarah found relief and support. She received accommodations that eased her pain, participated in workshops that strengthened her mental resilience, and felt empowered by the organization's commitment to her well-being. As Sarah's experience drastically improved, it became clear that the wellness program was transforming the organizational culture. Employees felt valued and supported, and productivity soared as a result. Shortly thereafter after, a committee of employees was formed to continue to drive the culture and DEIB initiatives. As leaders and HR professionals in DEIB, we must prioritize initiatives that promote comprehensive health and equity. According to a 2021 study assessing health conditions among workers: 🔷 Employees experience a 21.5 percent decline in productivity if they experience depression. 🔷 They experience a 13 percent loss in productivity if they have chronic pain. 🔷 Employees with physical health conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease, are at increased risk of absenteeism. What have you seen or implemented that has made a positive impact on your organization’s culture? Let's share and learn from each other's experiences to drive meaningful change. It's almost here and we are ready to go! Please join me for my upcoming Rita B. Allen Associates panel discussion on ‘HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE' with Cynthia Conigliaro MBA, MSW, HWC, Glenn Haskell and Kristin Matthews (she, her) December 5, 2023, 8-9 AM EST. The impact of the pandemic on the physical, emotional, mental and social well-being of the workforce is still being assessed. There is more focus and attention placed on the importance of self-care and healthy behaviors as a foundation for workplace productivity and satisfaction. Research has indicated that individuals who are healthier tend to be more productive at work due to higher levels of energy, motivation, engagement and performance. We continue to navigate new norms and different models of work. Building a healthy workplace is a critical objective for every employer as well as a key consideration for employees. A 2022 global report from Gallup showed that only 33% of employees are “thriving” in their wellbeing; 44% of employees shared that they experienced “a lot” of stress in the previous day; for worry, 40%. We will have an opportunity to learn from a panel of distinguished leaders who will share their expertise, observations on trends, and best practices on this important topic. Despite growing investments in workplace wellness, only 24% of U.S. employees believe their organization genuinely cares about their well-being. This gap risks losing millennial and Gen Z talent seeking supportive workplaces. Prioritizing robust wellness programs can enhance retention and create a healthier, more engaged workforce. #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceWellness #EmployeeEngagement #ProductivityBoost https://lnkd.in/eURkp7KD

Introducing: The "Mind the Gap" Series! There are very few employers and employees who have not felt the increased pressures of cost of living or cost to serve, which is causing a gap to open between employers and their employees. Check out our first instalment of 3 where we explore this gap from the two different perspectives and consider what support can be provided to close the gap and create a more balanced relationship 🤝🙌 #financialwellness #costofliving #wellbeingatwork #happyemployees #empowerment #leadershipdevelopment #wellness
