Your physician is resistant to change. How can you get them to see your perspective?
It's important to understand the impacts of your change. It may be critical and necessary and promising to yield huge improvements, but of its incredibly disruptive and time consuming for the physicians, frustrations will mount quickly. This will negatively impact adoption of and adherence to the new process. Once you understand the impacts, you can effectively identify support opportunities for the physicians. They need to feel supported in any changes and that misunderstanding something won't be a barrier to patient care and their own productivity measures.

Your physician is resistant to change. How can you get them to see your perspective?
Include the physicians in the decision making process as much as possible. It's much easier to get buy in when you involve the affected parties earlier and they feel they had a part in it. Start the change management process in the early phases of identifying a change is necessary and selecting the change... not only when its time to execute. This gives you a much larger percent of physicians already bought in, who understand the scope and context.

Your physician is resistant to change. How can you get them to see your perspective?
If you've asked questions, listened to answers, and built a full understanding of current work then you can approach the physician with the needed changes in a way that bridges the gap between current state and future state. Does your proposed change require more work from them; extensive learning of a process, tool, or technology; seemingly more time or effort spent? If the answer to any of the above is true, then the ROI and value must be stated and explained. How will the new process help them; what does it do for the organization; why is it critical? Lastly, partner with them to make the change as smooth as possible through support along the way.

Your physician is resistant to change. How can you get them to see your perspective?
It is so important to understand the physician's perspective. Otherwise how are you to know the best approach in trying to incorporate change into their work? Ask questions and listen to their answers to understand their current state before barging in with ill-defined changes when you don't fully understand their impact. I'm always looking for the "sell" that I can use in change management or the "What's in it for me" (WIIFM) that I can use and you won't know that without first listening and understanding what their workflow is currently.
