We give youth in the juvenile justice system a second chance to be more than a faceless statistic.
About us
For most adolescents, making poor choices is part of growing up. But for youth in the juvenile justice system, the poverty and dysfunction that led to their mistakes can often create a cycle of crime difficult for any teen to overcome alone. This is why we are here every day - without fail, with respect, accountability and belief in their potential. We help Dallas County youth change doing time into a time to learn and practice critical character lessons and work skills. As a result, they significantly reduce their chances of returning to custody and can build a new identity – as a capable young person with a contribution to make. Every year, Youth With Faces serves more than 300 youth in the Dallas County Juvenile Department and through post-release services in the community. Our life-changing programs include: Culinary Arts, Therapeutic Horticulture, Dog Training, Career Readiness, and wrap-around post-release services. These programs help 75 percent of Youth With Faces graduates secure a job post release, and save taxpayers $2 million for each youth that is prevented from becoming a lifetime offender. Q2 Earn & Learns are a wrap! The Dallas students amazed us with "Black Knights Kingdom," a medieval-themed meal and event fit for royalty. Meanwhile, the Collin County students wowed us with their "Collin County Mexican Grill" pop-up, reminiscent of your favorite Chipotle spot. These talented culinary classes worked tirelessly to create delicious meals and unforgettable experiences for the juvenile campuses. Together, they served over 230 residents and staff! A huge THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers and partners for making these experiential learning opportunities possible. JPMorgan Chase removes barriers to employment for those with eligible criminal records by incorporating a second chance approach to hiring and supporting common-sense policy solutions, like #CleanSlateLegislation. As there continues to be a demand for talented workers across our country, we hope more companies will consider this approach. What an outstanding couple of weeks! Four of our students have successfully interviewed and secured jobs using the skills they learned in class. And, they are proud of their hard work. One of these students recently spoke up in class to let others know to pay attention to the resume lesson. He shared that he got a job using the skills Miss G taught him. Another one of our students recently applied for six jobs and she received an offer from five of the six! Let's congratulate them on their hard work. #HappyFriday #WorkReady #CareerReadiness

Some of our Dallas County students had the special treat of visiting Dallas College last week. Students received an academic information session and guided tour of campus hosted by two current students, as well as a tour of the kitchen and bakeshop with one of the culinary professors. Thank you, Dallas College, for hosting our students. It's always fun to hear their excitement for the future after visiting campus!
