Last evening @flightsafety honored Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue CEO, as the 2024 Gloria Heath Trophy Recipient, which recognizes a woman for notable achievements in civil aviation. A 19-year veteran of @JetBlue who took over as CEO in February after having served as the airline's president and CEO, Joanna was recognized for her commitment to the well-being and success of JetBlue's employees, her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, and for fostering an environnment where personnel are empowered to report safety concerns and to hold each other accountable. #WomeninAviationInternational is proud to support in the creation of the trophy by artist Laurie Barton in 2022. Gloria W. Heath, was a pioneering female pilot and later an expert in search-and-rescue operations on land, at sea, and in the air. She was a founding member of Flight Safety Foundation and an early force in the Foundation's efforts to disseminate aviation safety information worldwide. Gloria was a Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) stationed at Pocatello, Idaho, where she flew Martin B-26 bombers. Congratulations Joanna! Thank you for your mentorship and making significant strides in diversity and inclusion efforts. #WomeninAviation #IamWAI #WeAreWAI @laurieburtonart

Women in Aviation International reposted this
I just read this great Forbes article about women in private aviation and had to share some thoughts. Key Takeaways 👇👇👇 New Opportunities: Private jets are where it's at for women looking to start a career in aviation. It’s more accessible than the commercial side and has tons of potential. The International Air Transport Administration has a 25by2025 initiative, encouraging airlines to grow female senior leadership positions to at least 25% of the corporate structure by 2025. Breaking Stereotypes: The private jet industry is helping break down stereotypes and push for more women in leadership roles. With the market at around $30 billion, there's a lot of room for us to make our mark. Supportive Networks: Women in business aviation are using networking and mentoring to change the landscape. It's amazing to see how we're all helping each other succeed. Leadership Roles: Leaders like Leona Qi, president of a leading private jet company, highlight the importance of hiring more females in leadership roles. She emphasizes that diversity of thought and experience fuels innovation, and women bring unique perspectives that are often underrepresented. Breaking the Cloud Ceiling: We need to look beyond traditional resumes and focus on diverse skills. There are so many exciting roles in aviation for women, beyond the usual flight attendant jobs. It's incredible to see Women in Aviation International getting recognized for their dedication to advancing women in all aviation career fields. At Sheltair, we're proud to support Women in Aviation International and celebrate Girls in Aviation Day this September. We'll be hosting events network-wide, and I can't wait to see everyone come together! Read the full article here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gwY8fEqG #Aviation #WomenInAviation #CareerChange #PrivateAviation
