"Why did we create this association, Women in Aviation International Singapore Chapter?" Since co-launching the Singapore Chapter (WAI SG) association in 2021, I have often been asked this question. 4 years ago, I boldly told my co-founder, that whatever she wanted to do, I would do it together with her. 🤠😎 3 years ago, we launched the Women in Aviation International Singapore Chapter with a small group of only 24 Founding Members. 👩🚀 👩✈️ 👩🏭 👩💻 2 years ago, we had to bootstrap to gain funds to launch our flagship program, Mentorship Program. Thanks to the advice from our Board of Advisors, we knew there was no other way to raise funds, except for a Gala Dinner. We pitched to as many industry partners and strategic alliances. 🦉 We committed to a Gala Dinner date, just 8 weeks before our actual event. The next 8 weeks became my worst weeks that year. I was failing, I could feel myself running out of steam, and as the weeks closed in and the days before the Gala, I felt so much doubt about not being able to pull through the smooth organisation of this extremely, important event. We managed to pull through the night (thank you, volunteers!) and raised the funds to support 100 women mentees in the industry to be mentored by 50 Mentors. Overnight, we became the Diversity, Talent Pipeline solution to Aviation & Aerospace in Singapore. When it comes to building an organisation like WAI SG, we gained incredible momentum, all thanks to the support of our earliest supporters, who became our core leadership team. 👭 👯♂️ For 3 years now, today, we have continued to raise funds to support women in aviation to allow women to gain a strong network and stay connected to the aviation ecosystem. I am incredibly proud of our strong leadership team from scratch, with our 100% member volunteers (all of whom led their full-time careers). 🤹♀️ I wish to spread awareness of Women in Aviation International Singapore Chapter 3rd Gala Dinner, on 10th October 2024. 📣 📢 If you think women deserve a chance to be supported, Join Us as our next supporter! 💪 💪  A Journey of Empowerment in Aviation: For the thousands of WAI SG believers, please forward this. Thank you! Support Women in Aviation International Singapore Chapter by sponsoring 💺 seats 💺 and enjoy a night of celebration with us. RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/g-iW_U5c "Never interrupt someone doing something you said couldn't be done." - Amelia Earhart Co-Founder, former WAI SG President, Marie-Louise Philippe quoted in her opening speech in our 1st Gala Dinner! PS: What are some causes you are passionate about? Share some tips on how you raised funds! 🤓

  • Women in Aviation International Singapore Chapter and Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC) are delighted to share the success of our fourth edition of Project Give Flight (PGF), a community engagement initiative held in partnership by our two organizations. PGF 2024 aimed to inspire and educate over 15 young ladies from the #WAISG outreach program about exciting career opportunities in the aviation industry while emphasizing sustainability challenges and initiatives. The event kicked off with an engaging icebreaker, providing a relaxed environment for meaningful interactions between the participants and dedicated volunteers from AATC and Airbus. Following this, the participants had the incredible opportunity to experience flying in simulators under the guidance of skilled flight instructors providing them with a firsthand glimpse into the aviation profession. Highlighting both our organizations commitment to sustainability, we invited treatsure to conduct an insightful workshop, including a hands-on activity where the participants created a cleaning agent using food waste - specifically orange peels - an innovative approach to reducing environmental impact. Quoting the feedback from the participants: " I felt that I relearned everything about aviation today. It was an eye-opening experience.", "There are lots of different departments and careers when it comes to aviation; plenty of behind-the-scenes roles that help aid the frontliners.", "I learnt about sustainable aviation fuel where they repurposed food wastes as fuel for the aircrafts." None of this would have possible without the outstanding support from Silvia Meloni, Amilia Yusof, Serena Tan from Airbus and Fahmida Anjum our committee lead for WAISG CSR & #GIAD; Joyce Wong Cynthia Tan, Fenella Jefferson ✈who are our committee leads for Outreach and Mabel Kwan our WAISG VP. Thank you to all participants, volunteers, and partners who contributed to making Project Give Flight 2024 a success. Together, we are paving the way for a sustainable and inclusive future in aviation in #singapore! If you are interested to find out more about our outreach programmes for middle years/high school or tertiary, please reach out to us outreach@waisg.org or sign up to be a WAISG member at www.waisg.org.
